The first championship of the evening goes to Marcus Bates of Old School, who wins by RSC-3 over Rodrigo Gabriel of Frederick Fight Club. Nice performance by Bates who scored two standing eights in the first round and two in the third to get the bout stopped. Bates wins the 123-pound Novice title.
Bout number two -- the all-Laurel Boxing bout between Jefri Gutierrez and Andrew Barrett -- has been scratched. We now move to what should be a great bout between Yurii Polishchuk of LA Boxing and Drayvontay Speed-Rawls of No Excuse for the 141 pound Novice title!
Polishchuk is someone I've watched a few times over the last 12 months and he is impressive. Meanwhile, Speed-Rawls , the nephew of former national Golden Gloves champ Eugene "Sonny" Speed, put on a solid performance in the semis last week.
