Undefeated Capitol Heights, MD featherweight "Mr." Gary Russell, Jr. has a confirmed opponent for his first 10-round bout on Saturday, July 23 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The bout will open the HBO telecast that will feature the main event junior welterweight title unification between Zab Judah and Amir Khan.
The opponent for Russell (16-0, 10 KO's) will be Paul "Trussy" Truscott of Middlesborough, Yorkshire, United Kingdom (17-2, two KO's) who will be making his first trip to the United States as a pro boxer.
Russell, the 2008 US Olympian, is coming off a fourth-round knockout of Antonio Meza on June 17 in Hidalgo, TX. Truscott won a six-round decision over Zsolt Nagy on March 5 in Huddlesfield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom.
The telecast is slated to begin at 10 PM ET.
