Darnell "The Ding-A-Ling Man" Wilson lost by seventh-round TKO to Jason Gavern tonight at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, FL.
According to Phil Doherty of Fightnews.com, the fight stayed extremely tight on the scorecards as both men traded big shots often and early. During one heated exchange, Gavern stepped deftly to his right, unleashing a wicked right hand and left hook. The punch opened a gaping gash over Wilson’s left eye. Referee Frank Santore immediately brought Wilson to have the ring doctor look at the wound and advised him not to continue.
The loss is Wilson's sixth straight and drops his record to 23-12-3, 20 KO's. Gavern is now 20-7-4, nine KO's and wins the WBC Caribbean Boxing Federation Heavyweight title with the victory.
