Dontre King Wins in Atlantic City!

Cambridge, MD welterweight Dontre King scored a third-round TKO over Philadelphia's Keane Davis Saturday night at Caesar's Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ.

Here's the report from my Fightnews.com colleague Kurt Wolfheimer:

Sometimes it’s good to be the King and Saturday night was one of those days as Cambridge Maryland’s Dontre King overcame a tough early going to score a third round stoppage of Philly’s Keane Davis.

King had a considerable experience advantage over Davis, having fought fourteen times to just pair for the Philly native. However most of them were loses and Davis appeared to be the more skilled fighter in the early on. Davis had power on his right hands and it showed, as King was on the retreat and could only counter with wide flurries. Davis knew his success would come by slowing down the movement of King and he targeted the body whenever possible. King seemed to gain confidence after surviving the opening round and began to outwork Davis in the second with straight two and three punch combos. Keane appeared to tire a bit and his punches became wide. The more experienced King unloaded a right hand up top, which appeared to take some steam out of the Philly native. Davis look flustered as King stepped up the pace and out worked him with several combinations.

Davis tried to change the flow of the bout and looked to go back to the body, but he dropped his hands. King seized the moment and staggered him with a short right hand on the button late. King went for broke as Davis retreated around the ring. Davis was in trouble, but King could not find a clean finishing combination in his massive attack as the second round came to an end. King wouldn’t be denied and again wobbled him with an overhand right in the third round. Davis once again retreated to the ropes. King unloaded five unanswered punches and the referee had seen enough and waived the bout off at 1:29 of the third round.

Dontre King raises his record to 4-9-2, 2KO’s, while Keane Davis goes under the five hundred mark at slipping to 1-2.

  1. Gary,

Love your website! Just have one request.. Could you please keep us updated on Zbikowski fights? I figured since he fights with the Baltimore Ravens at heart it wouldn't be a bad idea and your site is where I get all of my info. Thanks
