There was NO WAY the doctor would have let it continue after a head butt like that, albiet unintentional.

Chris or Gary,

What exactly happened?

The two clashed heads so hard that you could hear it at ringside. I agree with Chris. Why people we're booing the stoppage is beyond me!

how was it looking until the clash of heads?

It was too early to tell. But it seemed like the more Jeter's corner tried to stop the bleeding, the faster if flowed.

that is terrible. i think would have been the best fight of the night!

are the fighters ok?

Jeter went to the hospital probably to get stitched up. Jeter wanted to continue, but there was no way that was going to happen.

I would guess that he also had an MRI, as any impact that vicious around the head can be scary.

While I've seen fighters stitched up in their dressing rooms by the ring doctor, that was no wound to be taken lightly and it wouldn't surprise me if a plastic surgeon at least took a look at it.

I learned that Jeter received 17 stitches to that nasty cut.

I hope that Tony heals all right. What makes the wound particularly "impressive" is that the fight was stopped immediately, meaning that it wasn't a gash that got opened up by a series of well-placed punches.

The worst I ever saw was Perry Ballard getting head-butted, repeatedly, by Hector "Macho" Camacho. Perry ended up with 32 stitches (and a hairline skull fracture running from the forehead where he was butted, down along the eye socket to his nose!)

The difference was intent. In Hector's case, it was clearly intentional, as his glove was behind Perry's head, pulling him into the butt, multiple times.

So why wasn't Hector DQ'd? It was in Texas.

The ref last night ruled Jones' head butt of Jeter unintentional, and I saw nothing to contradict that.

jeter was landing left hooks and it was only a matter of time before he ko jones. Keep your head up tony.

I am going to be honest that head butt looked intentional. I don't know anything about either fighter but that was one of the weirdest headbutts I have seen. Does Jeter have a history of cuts? If so it makes it even more suspicious. The fact it came after it appeared as though Jeter was able to stun Jones a little bit against the ropes.

Green River, good to see you back. When are you getting back in the ring?

Justin Ridgway said...

I am hoping to fight in August in Oklahoma City. I am going to be fighting at light heavyweight and cruiser from now on.

i wrote the comment about what ridgeway was talking about. somebody was playing a practical joke on ridgeway with the whole rebecca comments, and then somebody made a joke on how that was probably cujo's wife. i think everyone shold keep this website about boxing and the fighters. we shouldn't make comments about their family under any circumstances. it does not matter if we don't care for the foghter or down right hate them. i read the comments that anonymous posters wrote about these kids wife in the past, and it is utterly disgusting.

i am shocked gary would allow such disrespect on his site and not take down the bullshit comments. i am a usa boxing official, and this is not the type of sportsmanship we teach our kids coming up in this sport. all i ask is please be respectful when it comes to their family. i think cujo and ridgeway have noth been out of line on here, but that is no reason to make comments about their family. cujo bit off more then he could chew with jessie, and who knows when ridgeway will bite off more then he can chew since he can't seem to get a fight. well that is all i have to say about this topic.

Ridgeway can't get a fight because he don't want a fight.
Some of you people on here are full of advice on fighters you think you know. You know what they write on this site about themselves and thats all you know.
Do you really think they are going to say that all they want is an easy fight? I don't think so. Their going to say what they want people to believe about them.
Some of you people really shouldn't be so nieve.
If anybody wanted a fight they could find one.All they have to do is sign on the dotted line.
Again, most of the people that complain they can't get a fight are the ones that want nothing but an easy fight.
