Moments ago, BATB spoke to a source within the Virginia Department of Licensing and Regulations, the body that governs Boxing and Wrestling as well as Mixed Martial Arts in the Commonwealth.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that there are no, repeat, NO plans to replace David Holland as chair of the commission.
"There are a couple of people who would like to see Holland go," says the source. "He's had difficulties with promoters in the past, but there are no plans to replace him. He's not going anywhere."

And for those of you who haven't been in church for a while what that means is the next step after being all puffed up with arrogance could be falling flat on your face. It means that one becomes over confident and stops thinking sensibly when engorged with a feeling of power. It goes to one's head and is a sure indication of the fact that a person is bound to suffer or face disappointment because of the wrong decisions that he or she might make. In other words too much arrogance and self pride are sure to bring bad and disappointing results. This idiom is also given as an example to prove that when a person is destined to fail or fall, which is decided by the almighty God, then no one can stop that person from taking the wrong step and making a wrong decision, despite the fact that apparently that person is not expected to do such a thing under normal conditions. By even acknowledging some of these comments, DH has probably just sealed his own fate.

This is what has been confusing me about you guys and the comments you are making about Dave Holland....... What exactly does the commissioner do that make you blame him for the state of boxing in the Beltway area?? I enjoy boxing but haven't been involved in the business side so I really don't know.
It's just odd to me when you say he makes "screw-ups" and "mistakes"... All they do is sanction fights right??.... Isn't the rest up to the actual promoters??
I may be dead wrong because like I said, I have never been involved with the business side of boxing but I just don't understand why Dave Holland is being called "worthless" when his job at the most seems minimal and delegated to signing papers once they cross his desk.
Does anybody have any reasons why he should be removed??..... What exactly has he done wrong?? As I said before, I am not involved with the business side of the sport (I am only a spectator) so I really don't know.
Well you sound like the same person who posted your comment on the previous post about farewell to ballroom boxing report. He makes rules as he goes along and as they are fit for him. Look at my response to that post.

I have been to a few boxing events this year, and I plan on going to the Boxing Event at the Patriot Center in July.
Which Boxing event in the DC Metro Area/Baltimore has been the most entertaining.
So Far, the Boxing Event at the Du Burns Arena (Nicklow V. Sigmon) along with the undercards have my vote.
The other event at DuBurns is a personal strong second because my friend made her Pro-Debut.

I would agree with that if I had to give an event of the half year with the Shields-Lange bout earlier this year as a close second.
The Nicklow-Sigmon and James Stevenson-George Rivera bouts had so much hype surrounding them and then they both lived up to that hype. Right now, that's definitely the card of the year.

Regarding Jonathan Reid vs. Larry Brothers. Unless Brothers brings a lot more to the ring than he had against Anthony Bonsante at the Patriot Center, Brothers shouldn't even be in the ring.
It sounds like a confidence booster for Reid, who has had a string of well-fought losses following his Contender appearance. For as much as Reid was supposed to be a pushover for Jimmy Lange, I thought that Reid's performance was one of the most spirited defeats that I've seen in a long time.

I have a question? Why would the VA Boxing Commission even sanction a bout like this based on the records of both Boxers?
Under what circumstances will the VA Boxing Commission Reject/refuse to allow a boxer to box in the State of Virginia.

And STILL..... I have to have a reason of why people want him out. You guys seem so animated and borderline excited that he is on his way out and that he keeps making mistakes, but only one person has told me something he has done wrong.

You are not correct in your assumptions.It is supposed to be up to the promoter to promote the show especially the night of the show but it just doesn't happen that way in the state of Virginia.
The officials come in the night of the show and start telling the Promoter and all his help what doors they can come out of and where they have to put their dressing rooms and how much time they have to get to the ring and they are yelling and screaming at everybody in the dressing Room.
I am suprised that some of these officials haven't been knocked out
and left in the dressing room to be found by their feerless leader.
Some of the officials are former fighters but all except one
(Joe Cooper)that have been fighters are the ones that carry themselves appropiatley.Guess it's because they have been there.
But even Joe seems to be calming down.There was an instance at a show done in Roanoke Va where they had 2500 people and the man promoting it got treated so bad that he said he would never try to promote in this state again.
There are alot more things that can be said but there are a few good things to be said about Holland as well.Just know this.Nobody is ever going to be completely happy with any commission but the officials in this state need an attitude adjustment.Again you are not correct in your assumptions.
And Dave Holland your not going to get a reason too many to mention so shut up and go away!!!!!
I'm an official from out of town. Dave Holland invited my boss and I to sit cage side at an event at the Patriot Center.
My observations that night were;
Dave Holland run's a tight ship!
He has a methodical, no-nonsense managerial style that works very well.
I know his job is NOT easy and he does way more than "just signing papers". You can't understand all th BS he has to deal with unless you walk a mile in his shoes.
IMHO Dave Holland is an asset to the citizens and the State of VA.
To the previous post, with all due respect, you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Dave Holland is universally disliked by every promoter that I am familiar with in the state of Virginia. The man, Holland, is beyond rude and arrogant, he is a jerk of biblical proportions (and I am being kind in that assesment). He is also incompetent and in his current position, a detriment and impediment to the growth of boxing and MMA in the Commonwealth of Virginia. He has done things that other boxing commissioners would never dream of doing if they wanted to keep their job. The problem is, nobody in Virginia has been putting him under a microscope. Nobody has really taken him on. That has changed, things are in process now, you will not know what they are until Holland is removed from office. At that point, I am sure Digital Williams will do a follow up on all the details. I will give you a little hint though. Holland sanctioned a fight without actually weighing the fighter! And that is probably one of his lesser offenses! Asta La Vista Davey!

Although commissioners do alot more than just sign papers I think it needs to be understood
that promoters do ten times the work that a commission does when preparing for a show and should be given more considerations than they are given.
