For the tenth consecutive time, Great Falls, VA junior middleweight Jimmy Lange will headline a card at the George Mason University Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA. The ICE Promotions card, dubbed "No Excuses," will take place on Saturday, July 10.
No official word yet on who Lange's opponent will be but Lange (31-4-2, 22 KO's) will be looking to bounce back from his WBC USNBC Junior Middleweight title loss to Chase Shields on the last Patriot Center card on March 6. The bout is slated to be a 10-round encounter.
The co-feature is set. USBA Junior Welterweight champion Tim "Pit Bull" Coleman of Baltimore, MD returns to the Patriot Center for an eight-round non-title bout against Damien Fuller of Detroit, MI. This will be Coleman's first bout since winning the USBA championship via 12-round split decision over Mike Arnaoutis on December 3 in New York City. Coleman (17-1-1, four KO's) fought at the Patriot Center in his third pro bout back in September of 2005 and scored a third-round TKO over Spencer Harsley.
Fuller's last bout was a seventh-round TKO loss to Lamont Peterson
on April 10 in Las Vegas, NV. Fuller (30-7-1, 14 KO's) was also successful in his last Patriot Center outing -- a third-round TKO over Dean White in May of 2007.
In other bouts slated for the card, undefeated Haymarket, VA welterweight Juan "The Savior" Rodriguez makes his third straight trip to the Patriot Center for his first scheduled six-round bout against Cambridge, MD's Dontre "Pound For Pound" King. Rodriguez (4-0, four KO's) is coming off a first-round TKO over Damien Butler on the March 6 Patriot Center card. The win was Rodriguez's third straight first-round stoppage victory.
King (2-7-1, one KO's) scored his first pro victory in his last outing, stopping Misha Christensen in the fourth round on May 8 in Baltimore.
Columbia, MD middleweight Tony "Mo Better" Jeter also returns to the Patriot Center, the site where Jeter scored the Beltway Knockout of the Year, stopping Keith Gross in the first round on September 26. Since that win, Jeter (9-2, eight KO's) registered his third straight knockout, stopping Vincent Robbins on April 2 in DC.
Jeter's opponent in this six-round contest will be Reston, VA's Lawrence Jones (3-2-1, one KO) who appeared on the March 6 Patriot Center card and won a four-round split decision over Vincent Batteast.
Batteast, a junior middleweight from Laurel, MD (1-2-1) will try to bounce back from the loss to Jones when he faces the debuting Brandon Quarles , who fights out of Alexandria, VA.
Also on the card will be Manassas, VA featherweight "The Bolivian Queen" Jennifer Salinas (11-1, four KO's), who is coming off her six-round split decision over Caitlin Dance on the September 26 Patriot Center card. Salinas's opponent is undetermined in her third straight Patriot Center bout.

They seem to always have pretty decent and eventful cards.
They should put that boy byarm on thhat card , make the card a lil bettter. That boy is strong.
Brandon Quarles is a good fighter. Glad to see he's finally getting a pro fight.
Tony Jeter fighting somebody with a pulse in Lawrence Jones surprises me. If Jeter beats and/or stops Jones that is a respectable win. But I'll go with Jones in that one b/c he should be in good shape by fight night.
Any word on who Jimmy Lange is fighting?
I will have to go with Jones. He is slightly better fighter than his record.
The young heavyweight Maurice "Freight Train" Byarm is a great young fighter that would be a plus on this card he puts on great shows!!!
Easy win for Jeter why else would it not be?Pulse?Don't think so.
Yep, not a hard fight at all for Tony Jeter. The last time Jones fought someone with an amateur background such as Jeter's it was the Olympian Shawn Estrada, and you see what happened to Jones? Complete blowout. Same thing here, except Tony may even be a little bit better than Estrada.
hahahahahaha
no
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHA!
looks like another great card put together by jd brown.
You all are some bamas for hatin on Mo Better! You will be eating your words when his hands are raised in victory! You guys must be jealous as hell with all that talk. Just cause you don't have the skills, you don't have to trash those that do!
What's a bama? Please enlighten me brother. I am from the suburbs, went to private school, and am a member of the country club. My tee time awaits but I must know what a bama is!
Bama means dummy, or more specifically, country dummy as in someone from the South, or indeed someone from AlaBAMA even. Hence the term Bama.
Next up on Ebonics Today we will be deciphering, nay, defining 5 - 0, YaYo, and, my personal favorite, ShoNuf!

Research it on urban dictionary, ya bama! Or, if you have ever written an autobiography, just read that.......it would be more simple for you to understand!
Byarm is helluva fighter.. When he was in philly as an amateur we were in the same gym.. I cant wait to see Reece fight again..He was actually offered a contract to be on the last card but for whatever reason it fell through.
why isn't the mongolian on the show?
4 wins and 4 knockouts vs 2 wins
7 losses sounds like an even match to me.
Make the boy fight and stop spoon feeding him just because you can sell a few tickets. The public is tired of these kind of so called fights.you ego maniacs talk about wanting to fight tough but somehow you always wind up with an easy one.
Es verdad! Es loco! Yo so muy hambre! Y se venten billetes aqui! Donde esta Money Mike Sawyer?
Skills? What skills are you talking about?Hes deen decked in his last couple of bouts against HORRIBLE opponents. He FOULED in his last bout and he got away with it-and don't say he "was in motion" when he hit that boxer who WAS ON THE CANVAS.
Hell I don't see how he could have lost his last 3 bouts can you?
Jesus has he even fought in a eight rounder yet?
Maybe if your boy didn't walk around like Sugar RAy Robinson people wouldn't give him a hard time-you talk the talk then walk it.Otherwise don't cry when people give you a hard time. The way Jeter acts you would get the impression that hes a highly touted prospect when hes not.And heres something for you to think about:hes been dropped TWICE by low level opponents in his last 4 bouts.
Know what that says? His punch resistance is starting to go down.
who are you going to spring on us the last minute for Jimmy?
Don't give him a cream puff if he is going to fight the main event.
Lange has taken to many punches and he needs some serious time off. Like maybe,it's time to ,you know. Not talking bad about
this guy just think he will get seriously hurt.He has proven he is tough and he doesn't mind mixing it up but his skills are deminishing and he is taking much too much punishment.

Yeah, Lange is not a bad guy but he's gotten the most out of his career that he's going to get. Don't want to see him get hurt. It wouldn't surprise me if this were his last go around. At least he had something of a career whereas Jeter is just as you said. Walks around like he's Sugar Ray and he's not even Shitty Ray! He was a never was. Never had it, never will.
Jeter also hit Darrett Crocket after Crockett took a knee, and it was also not in motion, it was a late hit. THat fight is on youtube.....and Crockett also dropped Jeter.
Jeter's bout is actually a six-round contest.
Jeter paid off most of his opponents starting with McCombs on....
The "mongolian" Bayan Jargal is scheduled to be on a card in an eight-round bout on July 17 in Atlantic City. More news on that as I get it.
Byarm will be on the June 17th card in Baltimore. He may or may not be available for July 10.
They make Bayan fight tougher up there because he won't be in front of a home town and JD's ego won't be involved.
paid off or paid their purse? there is a difference one is actually criminal the other is a practice often used.
paid off or paid their purse? there is a difference one is actually criminal the other is a practice often used.
Please educate us neophytes. "Paid off" I can figured out as "paid to lose."
By "paid their purse" do you mean that a stronger fighter might pay the purse of a weaker fighter, in a case where the promoter doesn't think the matchup is competitive enough to generate the ticket sales neccessary for the promoter to pay the purse out of his own pocket?
It's a definite conflict of interest and it is something that stretches the parameters of boxing morality. BUT, it is something that takes place quite often in boxing.
It is fucking corrupt and it is used at almost every show in the washington area.
Don't beat yourself up over it. The statement which was made said "paid off" which would lead most to assume his opponents took a "dive". What I think he meant was he paid the purse. I don't know it to be true as I don't know whether he did or did not pay him off or the purse, however if you are accusing him of "paying his opponents off" I hope their is proof.
As far as the "neophyte" comment I am not the authority, but part of the problem with the public perception of boxing is the belief fighters are "paid off". I am not saying it doesn't/hasn't happened, but I do think it's not common. To me a boxer who is "paying off" another fighter is the lowest. So somebody who is just reading that statement may "buy into" this public perception.
Wake up and smell the roses,
Bucko.
it's hard to trace cash, that's my tip.
I always wondered why these 26-0 fighters turn out not to be legitimate and end up being bums.
follow the money, that's another tip.
sometimes local fighters pay the purse of opponents they feel are 'safe'. Those opponents though do not come in to lose. In fact they sometimes surprise the locals and win. this has happened in the Beltway area in a few recent bouts.
Sometimes promoters don't have the budget for an additonal bout or they are not interested in putting on a particular bout unless someone else is paying for it...but that's not the same as paying a fighter to lose.
For example: The Russian cruiserweight that knocked out Francois Ambang. That fight was paid in full by the Russian's people. They gave a check to the promoter. The promoter then paid the fighters. Everyone knows Ambang is tough and can fight but the Russian knocked him out. Now, what's your take on this one?
I heard Lang is fighting a real tomato. Thats why they're keeping it under wraps for so long.
All bouts are paid bouts to some degree, it just depend on who is paying for them. A fight can be paid for by the promoter who is promoting the show. Let's say they have a contract with the fighter in the red corner and they want to match him in a way that they feel is competitive, where he can win, and where he will hopefully learn something while winning. That's how matchmaking is supposed to work. Speaking of matchmakers, some states require a promoter to hire a matchmaker. The theory behind this is to remove any conflict of interest about a promoter making a fight for a fighter he has a contract with. Obviously it would be in the promoter's best financial interest if a fighter he has under contract wins his bout. Hence, the reason for the matchmaker (in theory). A fight can be paid for in ticket sales. Some fighters are incredible ticket sellers and they are able to sell enough tickets to pay for their purse, the opponent's purse, and make money for the promoter at the same time. Obviously, the promoter is going to match that fighter in a way that would enable him to sell more tickets in the future, i.e. match him in a way that should be competitive but where the fighter will win. Then, there are the guys out there with financial backing to such an extent that they are willing to "pay both sides" of a bout so they can get their fighter on a show and build their record and build their career. They go to the promoter and say, "How would you like a paid bout?" It is up to the promoter and/or matchmaker at this point to put on a competitive bout even though the fighter's camp is paying for it. I have seen bouts that have been paid for completely by fighter A that fighter B has won. It works that way sometimes. You can learn a lot about boxing just by reading this sits.
It's even simpler than that. You fight who you think you can beat, you try to get a record glossy enough to attract tv. You get on tv, make decent money, and if you win, it's on to bigger money fights.
I heard it's Tyrone Brunson, Danny Perez, Jose Celaya, Israel Cordona and even George Rivera that Lange is considering for July 10th!
If it was George rivera they would be publicising it by now.
What a stinking fight that would be.
George will beat Jimmy 8 days a week!
Johnny will not let Jimmy fight George but it's not because he's afraid of getting beat.
To much mud was slung by Hensley
and I don't think the Langes are that forgiving.
Perfect example of Hensley's unprofessional behavior costing one of his fighters a needed fight. I feel bad for Joe's fighters.
I personnally like Joe H., but I agree that Joe blew it for George. George should get a new team. For the last few years I've thought that George would flourish under different leadership. Sometimes you just need a change.
Hensley is a likable character, but I also agree that his hissy fits on this blog and other places against Johnny did him in. It's too bad because Joe's fighters suffer. I talked to a few of Joe's fighters last night and they are talking among themselves and aren't happy. They like Joe for the most part but are now seeing that his ways translate into limited opportunities in the future. This would have been a perfect opportunity for War Time, but Joe cut his nose off to spite his face. Too bad George loses out here. George needed this fight because his career is at a cross-roads.
Criticism of Joe Hensley is warranted here.
News on the street from multiple sources is that very soon (tonight, perhaps) Hensely will respectfully ask for a meeting with Johnny, come with his hat in hand and tail between his legs, apologize to Johnny, and ask for consideration. I respect Hensley for doing this. He's doing it for his fighters.
I don't respect Hensley. He knows Johnny will not forgive him. Desperation move by Hensley. I hope he learms from his mistakes.
Joe won't learn from his mistakes. Who are you kidding?
who is starting these rumors.
I don't see any of this shit happening.Although Johnny has had some success at the patriot center
half if not more of the tickets are given away and I don't think your going to see Joe bowing down to anybody. What makes you think that Johnny Lange is so much more superior than any of the other promoters in the area.He does two maybe three shows a year. The only diffrence is he has a little money
to invest (or shall I say lose) to move Jimmys fight career along.
One last comment.
Go after James Stevenson if you want to fight somebody I bet he will take the fight.
Lange and Jeter - a match made in Hensley hell.
Hensley is a loser. I've known him since high school. Always has been, always will be. Look at his hissy-fit at his last show. That says it all. Two-bit loser. Embarassment to the sport.
I didn't say that Johnny Lange feels he is much more superior than any of the other promoters in the area. Take a reading comprehension class, pal. I don't care either way for Johnny - the guy I support is War Time. All I can say is that Lange has conducted himself, all in all, OK, while Hensley has been unprofessional, particularly on this site. All my post says is that there is a huge opportunity for one of Hensely's fighters here but Hensley's over-the-top, amateurish, pro wrestling-like behavior stands in the way. I don't think Lange is afraid of War Time, he just won't do business with Hensely until Hensely shows some sustained respect.
sustained respect, get to fuck out of here.Joe Hensley has more class than you big boy.He is not on here talking you down is he?
Glad I tuned in on this site today.
Do you people ever get tired of
commenting with all the negative bullshit especially about Joe?
He has promoted alot of shows and at times has lost his ass to promote the sport. There is absolutley no money in promoting unless you get huge sponsorship
or TV involved. You candy ass people ought to stay off the guys back. You are probobly one of the people who will call him when he does his next show and either say can I get on your show big Joe or maybe can you put one of my fighters on your show.
signed your MAMA
July 10th is just around the corner. If they want to fight George Rivera they should let his people know.
I am anxious to know who he is fighting, He should get right back on his horse.
Joe probably wrote half of these posts anyway. "Your Mama" is a whipering fool.
I have heard from very reliable sources that Lange is indeed fighting Rivera. And no, this is not Joe, or Rivera, or any of those guys putting this out there. They are just waiting for the right time to let everyone "know".
Hensley has apologized to the Langes profusely. Let's see if it makes a difference.
Lange is fighting Jimmy LeBlanc
