'TNT' Tucker Signs With DiBella Promotions!

BoxingScene.com is reporting that undefeated USBO Light Heavyweight champion Mark "TNT" Tucker (13-0, seven KO's) has signed a promotional contract with Lou DiBella.

Mr. DiBella has not made an official statementon the signing, however, he confirmed the signing to Rick Reeno of BoxingScene.com with the following quote:

"I don't know how you got the scoop, but I'm very proud of signing Mark Tucker. I first saw him when he was 17 years old and immediately knew he was a talented fighter...The kid has a bright future."

Tucker's bout that was slated for April 23rd in Westminster, MD has been postponed, possibly until June.

Good for Tucker! Hopefully it will be a good move.

Not a big fan of DiBella, in fact I think he is an idiot. How do you go from being the head of boxing at HBO and then you go in to promoting and you screw that up? I mean really Lou, you should be where Golden Boy is right now, you were at HBO, you had the guys you worked with in your back, front, and side pockets! And you screwed that up? What does that say about you?

With that said, look for Tucker on ESPN in the future on a DiBella promoted show. I wouldn't be surprised if they even back Tucker for a show in Westminster and put that on ESPN. So even though DiBella isn't one of my favorite guys, this was probably a good move on Tucker's behalf.

If I were Tucker, Sr. I would have DiBella back me for ten more shows in Westminster and get Mark Jr. to 23 and 0. If that's the case, no real financial exposure for Mark, Sr. and then Mark, Jr. is sure to get a big money fight with a record like that. If they got that type of deal, good for the Tuckers. But a word of advice to them as well, watch that guy like crazy (DiBella) because he's just not that bright.

Television shows only go to the promoters who are in the click
and their in that click for a specific reason $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and I'm not talking about money in their pockets.
Any way it's obvious that Dibella
is one of the few that are in the
right position.Congradulations
Mark and Mark wish you nothing but the best, you've worked hard and deserve it.

Just goes to show that big lou has no idea what he is doing. to go from signing jermain taylor out of the olympics to signing tucker would be like jd brown going back to delivering the morning newspaper on his bicycle.

That's a good point. Remember Lou's initial prospects? Of course there was Jermain Taylor. But he also had heavyweights like Paolo Vidoz from Italy and I believe Attila Levin from Sweden and I think even Derek Bryant from Philly. I was ringside in AC a few years back for a show Lou put on at Donald Trump's Taj Mahal which was shown live on HBO with co-features of David Tua vs. Michael Moorer and Jermain Taylor vs. Sam Hill. I remember Vidoz got outboxed easily by Zuri Lawrence and Lou Dibella was sitting in front of us on pins and needles the whole fight. What an idiot that guy was and is. And to call that guy is a promoter is an insult to all hard working promoters. There were like 6 people in the whole place, he didn't promote crap. He got his TV money, he got his casino money, he took his cut, then he made the fights and he put together an undercard. Any 9th grader could have done it.

I also noticed that Dibella is co-promoting the card in Salisbury tonight...could he be moving in on the big-time prospects in this area?

I think he's a perfect fit for Tucker, and would be for FG as well. He keeps his guys active, gets them on TV, and has a small enough stable that they won't get ignored like the Petersons have since they signed with Top Rank.
