Snyder Loses Eight-Round Decision in Atlantic City!

"The Berlin Bomber" Joshua Snyder lost a tough eight-round unanimous decision to undefeated middleweight and 2008 Russian Olympian Matt Korobov tonight at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ on the Kelly Pavlik-Sergio Martinez undercard.

Here's how Matt Yanofsky of Garden State Fight Scene.com saw the contest: Korobov fought at a high speed pace early before eventually slowing down and earning decision over tougher than advertised Snyder. Korobov had difficulties in a few of the middle rounds, tiring a bit in addition to getting hit with flush right hands, but did enough throughout the eight round contest to win a unanimous but far from impressive decision.

Scores were 79-73 and 78-74 twice. Korobov, of Orotukan Russia, raises his record to 11-0, eight KO's. Snyder, of Berlin, MD, slips to 8-5-1, three KO's.

  1. Let's hear it for this guy Snyder! Korobov is supposed to be the real deal, a can't miss prospect and future world champ who is signed to the biggest promoter in the world today Top Rank Boxing. And Snyder fought him on even terms and even had him hurt late in the fight. I've heard reports that it was 5 rounds to 3 for Korobov but by all accounts it was a very close and competitive fight and nobody expected Snyder (outside of those around here who know him) to even be competitive. If I'm not mistaken, Josh had no amateur fights so he's doing it the old fashioned way, he's working hard in the gym, getting quality sparring, and taking tough fights in the other guy's backyard. He doesn't have a promoter. He's learning while he's fighting. Look at who he's fought: Matt Korobov, Walid Smichet, Aaron Pryor, Jr., John Mackey twice, Charles Norwood, Jessie Nicklow, Jimmy Lubash, Earl Cole, and Latif Mundy! He has quality wins over Cole, Lubash, Norwood, Mackey, and Pryor and fought everyone else extremely tough. Didn't he win 2008's Fighter of The Year on BATB? This guy is a hoss! So even though you didn't get the win, congratulations to Josh, Coach Rick and the rest of the crew from Salisbury, MD! You did yourself well Josh! Keep grinding! They can't keep you down forever! It's a CRIME that Prizefight Promotions puts on an extremely profitable show in Josh's hometown of Salisbury, MD and they can't find a spot for Josh in a 6 or 8 rounder on the undercard against guys who are on a little lower level than the killers that Snyder has been fighting. I've heard it's just one guy who is blackballing Josh and not putting him on those shows. I won't say his name, but people in boxing know who he is. I think that the readers at BATB need to put pressure on PrizeFight to put Josh Snyder on their next show. Prizefight is making an absolute killing on those shows. They are selling them out and they are putting them on TV to boot. They can put Snyder on in a 6 or 8 rounder. PrizeFight, do the right thing for Snyder, Coach Rick, Salisbury, and Boxing - PUT JOSH SNYDER ON YOUR NEXT SHOW IN SALISBURY!

  2. They ought to change PrizeFight Promotions name to the Raiders because they are raiding all the blue chip prospects from our area: They had Anthony and Lamont Peterson, plus they've got Fernando Guerrero, Dominic Wade, Ty Barnett, and Gary Russel, Jr.

These guys are making fools of every promoter from the area.

  3. Props to Snyder for a game performance last night. We were ringside and there was no quit in him. He made Korobov look pretty bad at times and most of the media members at the fight were questioning how far the 08' Olympian can go after yesterday's struggles.

  7. Is it really Hal Chernoff who is blackballing Josh Snyder from the shows in Salisbury, MD? If so, that is a shameful disgrace and Hal Chernoff should be ashamed of himself!

  9. How can Hal Chernoff blackball anyone from those shows? Hal Chernoof is Fernando's Manager. The Promoter is Prize Fight. Can someone explain these allegations?

  10. The scores for the fight:

    John Mckaie - 79-73
    Joseph Pasquale - 78-74
    John Poturaj - 78-74

The fight was not nearly as lopsided as the scores would suggest. During the middle rounds Snyder did frustrate Korobov, alot. With the exception of one or two early rounds, all rounds were close.

  11. why doesn't Josh get his manager to sign him with a promoter or just rent the Salisbury Civic Center. He should draw well.

  12. Oh somebody else who thinks they own an arena or an area and nobody else can promote there.
Sooner or later you will wake up and somebody will be promoting in your back yard.

  13. I know most of you don't have the good fortune of being able to watch the fight between snyder and korobov but it isnt a coincidence that hbo didnt air their fight. They didn't want everyone to see Josh beat up their prospect. He won at least 5 of the 8 rounds and was robbed. I'm not one to talk smack on the internet but thats really unfortunate that he blocks every punch korobov throws yet loses by a wide margin.
