Corley Knocked Out in California!

Former WBO Junior Welterweight champion DeMarcus "Chop Chop" Corley was knocked out in the fifth round by contender Freddy "El Riel" Hernandez last night in front of a nationally-televised ShoBox audience at Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, CA.

According to Francisco Salazar of Fightnews.com, a very competitive, good action fight ended suddenly when Hernandez laid out Corley with a huge right hand. Time was 1:48.

Corley is now 36-13-1, 21 KO's while Hernandez, ranked number 14 by the WBC, is now 28-1, 19 KO's.

“I got caught, simple as that,’’ Corley said. “It happens to the best. Instead of me going bing, bing, bing (punches) and moving out of range, I went bing, bing, bing and stood up and got caught with a clean shot. Until then, I was frustrating him and fighting my fight.

“But I’m not going anywhere. As soon as I can return to the gym, I will. I’m definitely going to fight again.’’

Too bad but chop looked pretty good until he got caught. He shouldn't be fighting that high in weight anyway. I've always thought Chop looks like a lightweight.

Any news on Vaughn Davis?

I think chop needs to hang it up his run is over

His run ins't over by any means. he was very competitive in that fight, which he probably was out-weighed by 10 lbs, until he got caught. Keep fighting chop!! (at 140 :-) although I like the 135 idea if you can make it.)
