Ballard, Fox Win Under-19 National Championships!

D'Mitrius Ballard and Alantez Fox won Under-19 National titles tonight in Cincinnati, OH and will be among the United States boxers that will be heading to Baku, Azerbaijan for the 2010 AIBA Youth World Championships in April.

Ballard defeated Daquan Arnett of Orlando, Florida, avenging his Championship loss in the 165lbs. 2009 National Junior Olympic Final. Fox defeated Moshea Aleem of Richmond, Virginia.

The third Beltway amateur to participate in tonight's championship round -- Jerry Odom -- lost to Trevor McCumby of Yorkville, Illinois.

Congratulations to all three for great championship runs!

Good work young men in bringing back two golds and a silver. You all did great and deserve applause. D'Mitrius , who has traveled internationally before will resume his career by adding another sticker to his passport!!! Fox will begin his first international tour. It is a great honor to represent the country. Stay focused and train hard!!!

I remember when Moshea Aleem first set foot in the gym back in 2004. He didn't look like much at all now he's second in the whole nation! WOW! GREAT work young man and congratulations to his father Omar.

I want to say a special thanks to Lamont Roach for working my son's corner while I was trapped in Missouri!!! He told Tez what ever he needed to hear to become a U19 champion!!! I usually don't comment, but I wanted to let this be known . If he wouldn't of taken Tez, none of this would of happened. Thanks again Baby Roach!!! I really appreciate what you did!!!
