Coleman Wins USBA Title In New York!

In a somewhat shocking split decision, Baltimore junior welterweight Tim "Pit Bull" Coleman has captured the USBA Junior Welterweight title over Astoria, NY's "Mighty" Mike Arnaoutis in the Grand Ballroom of the Manhattan Center in New York City.

The bout was very awkward with Coleman controlling the early action with a solid right hand. It did look like Arnaoutis, fighting in his adopted hometown, seemed to grasp control of the contest in the middle and late rounds but two judges saw it for Coleman -- Kevin Morgan and Glen Feldman (115-113). Judge Robin Taylor scored the bout for Arnaoutis (116-112).

With the win, Coleman is now 17-1-1, four KO's. Arnaoutis is now 22-4-2, 10 KO's.

Man lets not be biased. Coleman clearly lost this fight. It was no better than 9 rounds to 3 for Arnoutis. Coleman won 1,2 and 5. No more. Robbery!

I thought it was a little closer than that. I did think Arnaoutis pulled it out, but he may have given up too much early in the bout. My score was 115-113 for Arnaoutis.

Nice win for Tim. He could have done a lot more to win convincingly but he is a tough style for a lot of these killers out there.
