Work hard Jesse. We're pulling for you brother. Can't be there, but will be screaming for you through the tv!! Good luck man!!!
Jesse is right about 2 things for sure.
He isn't Duran or Rosado. They are much better fighters than Nicklow.
A club fighter like George Rivera gives Nicklow fits. Guerrero will tax him for sure.
Get um Beast!!!!
this is great..hopefully i will get to watch this one...jesse gonna smoke this guy
I pick Nicklow in this one.Show them Beast
CUJO
hey george stop making comments acting like ur someone else were not stupid...jessie beat ur ass any way and he beat mackey, and champion and snyder... it should be a good fight but i think guerreo should win
As for Timothy Bradley, he pitched a shutout against a pretty crafty if sort of inexperienced fighter and he ought to get credit for it. Check the site daily for Upcoming Boxing Picks & Boxing Predictions that will make you a winner.
It emerged that Frank Warren has contacted Bradley's manager about a proposed fight with Amir Khan next year in the United Kingdom. The call surprised Gary Shaw. I was very surprised at the ease in which Bradley beat Peterson. I thought this was a fight of the year candidate but Bradley was having no part of that. Timothy Bradley is the best superlightweight right now, fighting everyone. Check out Boxing Odds
Good luck Jesse!!!

Guerrero is going to light him up! Nicklow is tough as nails but skill wise, he is nowhere near Guerrero.

While his opponent is no Apollo Creed, the boxing career of Baltimore middleweight Jessie “The Beast” Nicklow will take a Rocky-like turn on Friday, December 18 when he battles outside his home area of Maryland-DC-Virginia for the first time in his pro career. Nicklow (19-1-2, 7 KOs) travels to the Grand Casino in Hinckley, MN for a 10-round main event bout against, ironically, another Maryland boxer – highly-touted and undefeated Fernando Guerrero (16-0, 13 KOs) of Salisbury. The bout will be carried live on Showtime as the lead bout on the network’s ShoBox telecast. The bout will also be Nicklow’s national television debut.
Normally a busy fighter, the 22-year-old Nicklow has only fought once this year – an eight-round draw against John Mackey on June 18 in Glen Burnie, MD. Nicklow has remained in the gym working with his amateur trainer Danny Kisner in preparation for this contest.
“I will have had five weeks of training for this fight,” Nicklow told Fightnews. “We were trying to get a bout with (Alfredo) Angulo, but he took the Harry Joe Yorgey fight instead. The promoter said they wanted to get another fight for me and they told Danny about this bout and when Danny told me it was Fernando I told him I wanted the fight.”
Nicklow and Guerrero have some history dating back to their amateur days. “I fought Fernando five times in the amateurs,” Nicklow said. “He won three bouts and I won two.” The two also sparred as pros as recently as this past April. “We definitely know each other and it will be a hard, competitive bout,” Nicklow added.
“He puts his punches together in combinations and stays busy in the ring,” Nicklow said of Guerrero. “I think a little more in the ring than Fernando. I can do more in the ring. I’m going to pressure him and take the fight to him. But I think the main difference will be the strength factor. I think I’m stronger.”
"A club fighter like George Rivera gives Nicklow fits" -
"George Rivera gave him fits? Shit, Rivera beat his ass not once but twice! Jason Champion gave him fits, John Mackey gave him fits, Josh Snyder gave him fits. George Rivera beat his ass!"
I think the second comment took issue with the first comment pertaining to George Rivera giving Jesse Nicklow fits. Nicklow beat Champion and Snyder and I believe most ringside observers (Digital included) had him beating Mackey. In other words, they gave him fits but Nicklow won the bouts. Saying George Rivera gave Nicklow fits is not accurate because George Rivera beat Jesse Nicklow twice, the first by knockout and the second by a wide unanimous decision. Listen, Razor Ruddock gave Mike Tyson fits but Tyson won both fights. Antonio Tarver had some tough moments with Elvir Muriqui but Tarver won the fight. Those are examples of fighters giving other fighters fits. It's just not the proper use of the term "giving fits" that's all I'm saying. In the case of Jesse Nicklow vs. George Rivera, George Rivera owns Jesse Nicklow. With that said, good luck to Jesse in the fight on Friday. We hope he wins!
First of all, I will not post anything negative on any fighter. If I had something to say I will address it with that person face to face!! I want to wish both fighters Jessie Nicklow and Fernando Guerrero the best of LUCK on SHOWTIME!! It could be one of the best fights of the year.
PEACE RIVERA
Some people take up Boxing for Money, some take it up for the Glory, some fight because it’s what they do best. One fighter who doesn’t fit into any of those 3 scenario’s is up and coming Middleweight Fernando Guerrero. Yes he enjoys the fruits of his labour, the money he hopes to get further down the road, the glory that winning world titles would bring him. However there is one thing that burns in Guerrero 23, more than anything and that is to bestow some of his future successes upon his homeland The Dominican Republic. He know resides happily in Salisbury, Ma where he’s managed and co-trained by Hal Chernoff who met his charge several years back says “I met Fernando one day when I went to pick up his older brother who had just started boxing for me at the time. Fernando was a solid built kid on the steps and I asked him why he wasn’t in the gym. He said he didn’t want to box even though both of his older brothers has started ”
Not perturbed Chernoff stuck at it “I just coaxed him and told him to just show up and try it. He did and wasn’t thrilled, I think some of that had to do with his brothers having a head start on him. But within a few weeks he decided to really dig in. In the beginning it was more about getting up to his brothers than looking to win fights get trophy’s or go to tournaments. He loved the disciplined structure of the gym” Along as having Chernoff in his corner Guerrero also benefits from the experience of Barry Hunter who also works with Lamont & Anthony Peterson as well as Heavyweight Tony Thompson.
While Guerrero was born in Dominican Republic he moved to America when he was young. Now living in Salisbury, MD. Where the people of his adopted home town have taken him into there hearts in such away he drew over 6,000 for an Friday Fight Night earlier this year. When asked why Guerrero is able to generate such large number Chernoff adds “Fernando’s connection with his community is very close. The people of our area are what make this place so special. When I say our area, it’s not only Salisbury, it’s the whole peninsula which is Delaware, Maryland and Virginia’s the Eastern Shore. These people genuinely like Fernando the person and have gotten to know him. The fact that he is a great fighter that has put a national spotlight on this community is just one more reason I think people appreciate what he does”
Even in the present state of the economy
I smell a fix all over this fight
Everyone wants Jesse to win, this is the beginning of big things for him and besides he's only 22!
I know and like both boxers but I am pulling for Fernando. He has a better chance to be world champ.
hey guys white cant fight nuf said
Oh now it's a Racial thing!!!!!
LOL! Not racial...think they are just talking smack!
I like both fighters. Fernando has the proverbial silver (white) spoon, so the color card doesn't make sense here. A lot more support and advantages than the BMore Boy...so
Jessie dig deep, do your thing and shine!
I would be surprised in Jesse makes it through this fight without being knocked out.
everybody loves Jessie :-)
could somebody name just one world class white fighter from the beltway area in the last 30 years?
Mike Baker
Boone Pultzs
Dan Cherry
Just to name a few
pultz maybe
baker sherry are you kidding
Jimmy Lange
Mike Paschall
Tony Jeter
some people who read this blog have no idea what world class is. lamont is world class so start there.you saw what paschal looked like when he stepped up. lange is a white ticket seller sad but true he really cant fight so fellas just deal with it white cant fight been that way for 50 years now if you know anything you know that a fact is a fact.
This is how much of a dummy you are, Mike Baker fought for a world title and held regional titles DUMMY.
Mike Bakery was 46-19 and held regional titles as the USBA and the NABF. He also fought for the WBC world title.
Dan Sherry fought Chris Uubank for the WBO title.
who is the dummy when you think because you fought for a title makes you world class you must not understand boxing at all john jarvis fought for ibf title and ron essett
fought for wbc wba wbo titles so that dosent mean shit its what you do against other world class fighters that tells story .
You are the DUMMY if you say Lamont Peterson is world class after he just took a total beating and is in the same spot as those other three fighters mentioned.
1 :) fought for world title
2 :) lost in that fight
3 :) the expectations for all 3 fighters were high
MIKE BAKER,had the ability to destroy either one of these guys.
When Mike Baker was on there was not a better white fighter around.
Mike had some problems outside the ring that didn't allow him to be his best in the ring all the time.
Why is this turning into a racial
thing?
There was a time in 1980 when Marvin Hagler was World Champion and according to The Ring Magazine Mike Baker was the #1 rated Middle Weight
People the guy that made that comment are brand new to make a statement like that. Mike baker was beast and to say he wasn’t world class is ridiculous but when you just step into the sport with in the last five years those are the statements that will be made.
who gives a shit about Mike Baker and racism? Go Beast! Get one for Baltimore!
r.i.p. fernando lol
