all and all it was a good night of fights abc did a great job putting on the fight i felt there was a few upside down decisions with the judgeing there was a kid there i cant remember his name think he is from hagerstown he was a hell of a fighter . also kareem martin looked awesome as ever head bangers rule '

Anonymous said...

The kid everyone seems to think is from Hagerstown is from Front Royal
Va. And yes there were a few bad decisions but is was a good evening of fights all things considered.Beautiful facility and a job well done by Mr Karoma and his staff.

no not the sand man.

You're right. The kid was from Front Royal. I think his name was Mathew, one hellofa fighter. Bad call made on this one for sure. Overall, it was a great production. What a shame these bad calls were made with such a good show.

I agree that this was well run event complete with great live music. they may want to get an announcer who is more familiar with boxing and the local boxing seem. that would have been a nice touch. my picks for most exciting fight would be the two little 60lbs. boxers along with the Reed v Aleem (mispelled in post, it's Moshea Aleem). Also a lot of these weights are incorrect because of some errors in recording weights I think at weight. For example, Kareem Martin's fight wasnt at 152 and Mike Reed and Aleem are at 152. I think there may have been one more that wasn't correct. Overall nice show, nice venue and can't wait for the next one.

Keegan was just as loud as ever, hollering with every punch. The noise sounds good but he never landed a punch. His foe gave him a boxing lesson. I too was shocked.
Keegan outweighed the other by 11 pounds. I have the weigh in sheet of 7 bouts. lost the rest.

I atteneded this fight on Saturday 11/14 and it was a great venue and good gogo mucis as well. About the fights didn't know the 60 lb kids were going to be there was fun seeing them and they were very good. I agree with some of these comments a bad call on the Folores vs Bowling match. Clearly it was a bad call by the ref and the Bowling kid got the 1 & 3 rounds. Still all in all was a good night of boxing.

Gregory Burton did not beat Jabar Henson, the decision was given to Jabar Henson. This needs to be corrected...

MY first time at this boxing location. It was a very very nice place. The entire show was really entertaining. I loved watching the little guys fight. That was so entertaining, I could have watched them all day. I now want my grandson to give this a try when he is older. Reading all of the comments are interesting. The one referring to the weights being inccorect might be of concern. I hope I'm not reading this incorrectly. I could visually see some of these were incorrect and agree with this person. Still, it was a great night with lots of good fights. I agree a few bad calls were made but the experience the amature fighters get from this is well worth it regardless of who wins. The fights noted in comments on bad calls, I may agree, but they gave a very good performance and all did a superb job of boxing. I will definately come again and can't wait until the next one. Great job to those who put this together. The music was lots of fun, too. The crowd should clap a little more for the little girls walking the round cards to give them recongnition. They were very cute and this was a good choice to do by the promoter. Again, great job!

All great fights, extremely nice venue. Flores VS Bowling - Bad decision, that should have been the bowling kids victory, still competitive though.

when I said weight were wrong, I just meant they were misreported. all boxers were boxing against others within a reasonable disparity. it's really a decision made by coaches. No need for concern. Bring ur grandson to a local DC gym. We have the best boxers in the country in this area.

That Bowling kid was thr truth! Bad call...siiick boxer. I hope to see him fight out there more often...

Gregory Burton did beat Jabar Henson, its ok though Jabar put up a decent fight. Especially considering Burton is more experianced boxer.

Matt bowling will keep training and he will continue to progress. He is very talented and he is coming along very nicely! Keep up the hard work and soak up all the instruction that coach gives you. Just for the record matt is also fighting this saturday in Harrisonburg Va.

Yeah I thought Bowling won too, but the other boxer was from ABC, so what can you do? I guess it could have gone either way, but I would have given the nod to Bowling. That was a novice fight right?

Anonymous said...

what is bowling's record?

Anonymous said...

Enough about the kid .
everybody si making a mountain out of a mole hill. This boy has only had three fights and only been training about eight months. There were plenty of talented guys on the card and Matt fought another boxer on the same level as himself
which made for a good fight.

Anonymous said...

Eh, speak for yourself. 8 months or 8 years, he fought well. Enough bad D's in the pros, it would be nice not to see them all the time in amateurs too. Still an overall good production for the club last saturday.

Anonymous said...

you only know of bowlings pro training of 8 months. you don't know what training he did before this. don't dis em. he's a strong fighter and we'll probably see em in the lights. can't wait for more.

uhhh chainy ur wrong Jabar got the decision over Gregory check the books....more experienced WOW!!!!!

We should do more to lift the value of the boxing clubs during these events and present more positive images for the kids. These coaches and trainers carry it like thugs and expect the kids won't be affected. I like the gym but how does the admission fee help promote the other clubs struggling for funds?

Anonymous said...

It doesn't. The admission fee is for the gym that held the show. Any gym can hold a show and charge and make money. That's how it works. There's no revenue sharing. It's not the NFL, it's amateur boxing. I'm sure the youngsters at ABC will benefit plenty.

The bigest thing wrong here is ignorance. What in the world makes you think that somebody who manages a gym like Mr Karoma is supposed to bust his butt putting a show together and then you or some gym your associated with is supposed to benefit from it financially.
My friend it just doesn't work that
way and there is nothing keeping you or any other gym from promoting
it's own event.Maybe you have an honest concern here but don't sit back end expect somebody else to do what
you want to be done, get off your behind and try to put one of these events on and then if your able to pull it off I want you to give the money you take in at the door to some other gym.
Hope this educates you and those like you who think it is all suppose to be passed around. Do the work and make your own contribution to boxing or some other sport even.

Gripster:

Ignorance is bliss. I suggest that we all work together. Kay Karoma should be commended for his volunteer work with the kids and many more coaches as well. However, do you know who really benefitted from the 1000.00 black tie dinner? More ignorance, huh. Get grip and continue to work in your community. I applaud you.
