Baltimore welterweight prospect James "Keep 'Em Sleepin'" Stevenson remained undefeated with a solid eight-round unanimous decision victory over tough veteran "Magnificent" Martinus Clay of Wilson, NC at Du Burns Arena in Baltimore.
Stevenson was able to keep Clay at bay with good boxing skill and power. The power shone through when Stevenson dropped Clay with a short left hook in the sixth round. Clay managed to beat referee Kenny Chevalier's count but any hope of winning the contest evaporated for him. Judges Gary Camponeschi and Don Risher scored the bout at 79-72 while Malik Waleed saw the contest at 78-73.
Stevenson is now 12-0, 10 KO's while Clay is 13-22-4, five KO's.
In the other eight-round bout, Front Royal, VA junior welterweight Andrew "The Doo Man" Farmer won a workmanlike unanimous decision over "Rockin'" Ryan Belasco of New Castle, DE.
Both men showed good boxing skills with Belasco ultimately not getting enough credit for his defense in the early part of the contest. Farmer showed toughness by fighting through a cut near his right eye. Farmer tipped the bout in his favor in the sixth round when, after catching a Belasco right hand, managed to throw one of his own that caught Belasco off balance and dropped him. Belasco got right back up and finished the contest. Judge Camponeschi scored the bout 79-74. Judge Risher saw the contest 77-75 while judge John Gradowski witnessed the contest, 78-73.
With the win, Farmer is now 13-1, seven KO's while Belasco falls to 11-4-3, three KO's.
Two Baltimore fan favorites made successful returns on this card. Heavyweight "The American Dream" Mike Dietrich won a four-round unanimous decision over Octavius Davis of Wilson, NC. Dietrich pitched a shutout (40-36) on all three judges scorecards as he used powerful looping shots to batter the much taller Davis.
Dietrich is now 11-1, five KO's while Davis is 1-3-1, one KO.
Super middleweight "The Golden Greek" Elias Bouloubassis returned with his knockout abilities still intact as he scored a first-round TKO over Joseph Montgomery of Clover, SC. Bouloubassis landed powerful shots that battered Montgomery throughout the round until referee Camponeschi stopped the contest at 2:24 of the round.
Bouloubassis is now 4-0-4, four KO's while Montgomery is 2-7-1, one KO.
In other bouts on the card, Baltimore cruiserweight Steve "Show Stealer" Wheeler put together his most demonstrative performance as a pro as he scored a first-round knockout over Maurice Amaro of Philadelphia, PA. Wheeler was very accurate in the contest, battering Amaro with both hands. The accuracy culminated with Wheeler landing a stunning left that dropped Amaro to his knees. Amaro was unable to beat referee Gradowski's count and the bout was halted at 2:40 of the first.
Wheeler remains undefeated at 4-0, three KO's while Amaro is 0-2.
DC heavyweight Maurice "Freight Train" Byarm also remained undefeated with a third-round TKO over Tyyab Beale of Orange, NJ. After a back and forth first round, Byarm took control of the contest in round two when he was able to get Beale on the ropes and land his power shots. Byarm maintained his success in the third when he dropped Beale twice before the bout was stopped at 2:55 of the round.
Byarm is now 4-0, three KO's while Beale's record evens at 2-2, one KO.
Two Baltimore boxers made pro debuts on the card with mixed success. Middleweight Devin Butcher won a four-round unanimous decision over John "The Baptist" Terry of Portsmouth, VA. Butcher showed unorthodox defensive skills as he continually moved backwards to evade Terry's looping shots. Terry falls to 2-15-3, one KO.
Heavyweight Joe "Diesel" DeLawder lost by second-round TKO to Billy Greenwalt of Youngstown, OH. The 43-year-old DeLawder made his pro debut for a special cause -- to raise money for the medical care for a local nine-year-old girl who is suffering from leukemia. Greenwalt landed crushing shots in the second round that stopped DeLawder at 1:51 of the round. Greenwalt is now 2-6, two KO's.
Baltimore Pro Boxing, led by Jake Smith, promoted the card. Josh Hall served as matchmaker.

Way to 'Keep'em sleepin'; them OPPONENTS that is. Step your game up boy b4 you 'keep'em sleepin' until you 20-0 with no real fights and no money. Plus those 'keep'em sleepin' fights get you injuries cause every now and then those drunk guys come to fight. Some doods get paid extra to try and hurt a limb. Some doods r 'juiced'.

Not enough $ to have this many fighters!!!
ReplyDeleteWho is CUJO???
ReplyDeletethe mix breed with the pony tail
ReplyDeletethat follows jake, like a puppy
is a condom for james stevenson.
but it won't be long before he
can no longer protect
james stevenson.
Stevenson got real talent, I don't know why your calling him protected. He's no more protected than anyone else at this stage of their career. Clay is not a total bum he has fought some big names. I don't know how he even survived the knockdown. Whoever posts negative about Stevenson doesn't know what they're watching.
ReplyDeletestevenson keep doing you
ReplyDeleteGary just looked at video of fight with Belasco and Farmer and there was no slip before he got knocked down. The slip came after he was hit with a solid right hand on the forehead.I viewed it carefully and a clean knockdown without a doubt.
ReplyDeleteAndrew was clearly off with his timing but started to put things together about the fifth round.
I don't care how well you train somebody they need to stay active
and not have 9 or 10 months between fights because the timing just isn't there. Thanks for all you do Mr
gary digital williams what do you think about james stevenson is he for real
ReplyDeleteI think Stevenson has all the tools to be for real. He has nice power and has improved his boxing skills very nicely.
ReplyDeleteThe bout with Clay was a good step up for him and he handled it well. Dropping Clay is something that not a whole lot of people have done. He still has some growing to do as a boxer, but the skills are definitely there.
James Stevenson is a guy that can go as far as he wants to in this sport providing he has the right handlers.I watched his fight at Duburns Arena very closely and the skills are definitely coming along and he is super strong.

Hey Anonymous were is your balls you got so much to say but can't reveal yourself maybe if you do you can make the fight that you mention happen. Don't hate on a brother cause you never know it can back fire....like it hurt when you spit in the wind and it blows back in your face. Watch your back
ReplyDeleteStevenson has had a lot of fights in a year's time and he doesn't even have a promoter. You have got to congratulate his management team of James Hogan and Tank (I believe Tank is his manager too). Good job guys!
ReplyDeleteJames Hogan is Stevenson's only manager.Hogan has done a great job with him and many others as well. Ponytail is good for boxing and deserves alot of credit for his accomplishments in such a short period of time. Congratulation!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!
it's a shame james stevenson,
ReplyDeletedon't know what he truly made
for that fight.
i over heard jake and hogan,
talking at the party
hey james do your research
because jake is not the only snake.
bet you didn't know james hogan
ReplyDeleteand hulk hogan had the same mother.
and a black mail man.
Hey is it true, is James Hogan a snake I want to know. I've been telling "Keep'em Sleepin" he was. So if you know the facts please share them. So many other managers want a shot with Keep'em Sleepin but he holds back being faithful to ponytail cuz he think he plays fair and think ponytail keeps it real so please if you know some facts tell it to open Keep'em Sleepin eyes to the light
ReplyDeleteWhy can't we all just get along! Is it really that serious? I think not cause no one is better than the next, we all are still right here in Baltimore on the same shit going to the small time pro-boxing events and hoping to produce the next big time pro-boxer. It really shouldn't matter who it is but we should be grateful were they are coming from and proud of a brother that they is trying to make it. Take that negativity and change it too positively and maybe you can jump on the band wagon. Don't destroy one's dream become a part of the team.
ReplyDeleteWhy would you need dirt on James Hogan to prove he is a snake if you already been telling Stevenson he is one? You should already have some facts. Of course you don't have any facts, you just want to hate on him. The truth is you seem like you want a shot. What is it that you do? What have you accomplished? Probably nothing and thats why you keep hating. Remember haters are failures. The reason you want a shot is because of the success Team Stevenson is having. Notice the word Team. James Stevenson is being moved masterfully and is the busiest boxer on the beltway. A boxer doesn't make that happen a manager does. I guess you are just another hater. I know why you call him a snake. He is successful and you are not. The other anonymous has already proven himself a liar and you just did as well. The definition of a snake (Merriam-Webster definition #2) a worthless or treacherous fellow. Treacherous means likely to betray trust, faithless, and unreliable. I think those definitions apply to you two and not Hogan. Both of you have proven yourselves to be liars and snakes. Get a life. Both of you. Keep up the good work Team Stevenson.
ReplyDeleteThe team surrounding James Stevenson is right on time, and it appears to me that they, whoever it is has a good plan and is succeeding at what they are trying to accomplish. Best of luck to everybody involved with this fighter and from what I seen James and his team have a very bright future.
ReplyDeleteScott Farmer
First off I'm not on anybodies nuts. I'm just stating the facts. Something you have a problem with doing. I get sick of people like you coming on to this blog speaking negative about people and never having facts. Why are you hating on ponytail when he is doing a great job as a manager? Do you think Stevenson is making his on fights and managing his on career? Ponytail has been doing alot for boxing and manages several fighters (all having success). You are hating because in your previous blog you stated "I've been telling "Keep'em Sleepin" he was." refering to ponytail being a snake. Then in your most recent blog you say you can't call that. Which one is it? Why would you need somebody to present some facts. You should already have facts if you are calling him a snake and telling his fighter that he is a snake. What makes him a snake? What makes you say he is fake, trying to get over, lying, stealing, and cheating. Is it because he manages Stevenson and you don't? Is it because of his success? I know what it is, you just feel it, right? Stop the hating and appreciate what has been done for Stevenson if you really support Stevenson. Contrary to your beliefs ponytail has done a heck of a job with Stevenson. If you are not phony and you don't like fake people try keeping it real yourself first. Don't call someone a snake and say that they are getting over when you have no proof. That's called hating and it is fake and phony. I'm not trying to disrespect anyone. I'm just keeping it real.
