There are a number of interviews conducted with boxers who will be on the ICE Promotions card at the George Mason University Patriot Center on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Today, WBC USNBC Junior Middleweight champion Jimmy Lange is slated to be a guest on The Mike Wise Show at 10:46 AM on WJFK 106.7 The Fan.
This afternoon, Lange will on the John Thompson Show on ESPN 980 at 2:45.
Then, Lange will be in a pre-recorded interview on The Sports Groove with Mark Gray on WOL 1450 AM sometime between 7 and 10 PM tonight.
Former WBO Junior Welterweight champion DeMarcus "Chop Chop" Corley will be a guest on Sports Talk with Glenn Harris on NewsChannel 8 tonight at 8 PM.
On Friday, "The Bolivian Queen" Jennifer Salinas will have a feature during the 6 PM sports segment on WRC-TV Channel 4.
I do not understand all this press about Lange. It seemed like a couple of years ago, before and after the tv show The Contender, that he was an up and coming guy. Now he seems like he is nowhere, going nowhere and fighting nobodies. This guy he is fighting has lost nine of ten, and I do not understand what is happening with him because fighting this guy does not seem to mean anything.
ReplyDeleteBut the press thing seems strange to me. There are so many good young fighters around (Lange is 34!. These news media outlets should be doing more stories on the Petersons bros, Dominic Wade, Alex Johnson, just a cross section of the best young guys. Lange just seems to be old news.
Part of the situation involves accessibility. Lange is affiliated with arguably the best PR firm in the area -- Brotman Winter and Fried. They are experts of getting the word out to the media.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, Lange is a great interview. He is an easy interview. Lange talks well and is also very accessible.
Third, the mainstream media, unfortunately, does not know enough about the boxing scene in the area to talk about some of the other boxers. The Petersons are an exception because of their great and uplifting back story.
The media has done stories on The Petersons, Dominic Wade and others in the past, but Lange, because of his popularity, is still a good local story.
Good luck to Lange and the rest of the card. It looks like it will be one of the better cards we have had this year.
ReplyDeleteThank god he has Bayan and others on the undercard. The main event is an embarassment. Does he know it or has he just taken too many punches to the head?
ReplyDeleteLange should be fighting better competition and there is no reason why anybody should say diffrent
ReplyDeletebut if it helps boxing in the area
so be it.
People l
You talk about Lange but who have the Peterson brothers fought?? If Lamont wins on Dec.12th I'm sure his name will carry more weight.
ReplyDeleteWade is just getting started but his time will come.
Don't hate on Lange.
I agree Wade time will come. He's a star in the making.
ReplyDeleteWhat do u mean who have the Peterson's fought. They have both fought top level competition. And both are rated around the top of thier division, and both are undefeated.Lange doesn't fight top level, and he is not a contender.
ReplyDeleteAmen. Langs opponents have tomato can stamped on their trunks. His last five opponents have a combined record in their last ten fights of 7-38-5, none of them have a win in their last five fights before they came to Virginia to fight Lang, and between them none of them their most recent win is June of 2006!
ReplyDeleteOh, and also, none of them are younger than 34. Coincidentally, Lang is 34, maybe its a policy not to fight anyone who is younger than he is!
any word on the weigh ins
