Interesting changes to two July 25th cards. At Du Burns Arena in Baltimore, undefeated welterweight James "Keep 'Em Sleepin'" Stevenson (9-0, eight KO's) will fight an eight-round rematch against Ken Dunham of Charlotte, NC (6-8, four KO's that will be for the World Boxing Federation (WBF) Americas and the North American Boxing Council (NABC) Welterweight titles.
Back on March 19 at Martin's West in Woodlawn, MD, Stevenson dropped Dunham four times en route to a second-round TKO. Dunham bounced back from the loss and scored a third-round TKO over Lenwood Dozier on June 5 at Shipley Arena in Westminister, MD. That was also a rematch bout.
Also added to the card will be a four-round heavyweight bout between undefeated DC prospect Maurice "Freight Train" Byarm (2-0, two KO's and Maurice Winslow of Wilson, NC (3-9-1, three KO's). Byarm is coming off a second-round TKO over Darius Whitson on May 29 at Du Burns. Winslow has lost two straight but he scored knockout victories the last two times he was in Maryland against Boone Pultz and Joe Gardner.
Baltimore cruiserweight Steve "Show Stealer" Wheeler (2-0, one KO_ will try to remain undefeated against Silver Spring, MD's Abloyt Abashi (0-1). Brandywine, MD heavy Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell is also scheduled to appear on the card.
Meanwhile in Greensboro, NC, the main event bout between Jimmy Lange and Jimmy LeBlanc has been pulled from the card. A representative from Walter Johnson Promotions told BATB that the North Carolina Boxing Commission would not approve the eight-round matchup between Lange (30-3-2, 21 KO's) and LeBlanc (12-16-4, four KO's). Bayan Jargal's bout against Alex Perez -- as of now -- is still on the card.

What's the story behind the story RE: the Jimmy Lange scratch in NC? Sure, Lange was certainly the favorite against LeBlanc, but it was hardly a gross mismatch of the Benji Singleton or Reggie Strickland variety. There has got to be something else in play here.
Really, there isn't a whole lot more to the Lange situation. The chair of the commission (who actually is a man whose name escapes me) is relatively new to the sport from what I've been told.
The promoter tried to find other opponents for Lange but couldn't. The commission simply made a ruling to not approve the bout.

To set the record straight Jimmy Leblanc Knocked out Luther Smith on the under card of Jimmy Lange fight and called Jimmy out ,he said he wanted to do the same thing to him that he did to Luther,we had been looking for a tune up fight for Jimmy before he defends his title in September and the promoter in North Carolina offered us this opportunity to fight on his card at a very discounted rate, so we kill two birds with one stone we fight a guy who KO Luther Smith and get a tune-up for Jimmy the commissioner in North Carolina did not disapprove of this fight until Thursday and I was told that they did not want to let Jimmy Lange fight some one on there card with a losing record(they need to research Freddie Pendleton who had a losing record and became the Champion of the world)

Thanks for reading the article, but I guess you didn't read the title which was "I'LL FIGHT LANGE! WAR TIME RIVERA READY TO STEP IN TO FIGHT JIMMY LANGE IN GREENSBORO!" After George beats Lange he can fight in Lynchburg on August 29th and then we can fight Miller in September. Miller is tougher than Lange anyway and after Rivera beats Lange and another guy he'll be ready for Miller in September.

Rivera will get knocked out by both Lange and Miller. Regardless of the fact Lange hasn't fought that tough. He has still fought tougher then Rivera, and Rivera has lost to several bums. Lange has a lot of ring time that will cause him to come out ahead of Rivera. It is one thing to like someone and to pull for them, and then there is being ignorant and proving that you know nothing about boxing. I would love to see the fight for Lange's career, but not for Rivera's health.

In that case, you must have missed the one Patriot Center card promoted by ICE/Jimmy Lange Productions, which didn't have Jimmy Lange as the main event, an MMA card last year.
If all it took was The Patriot Center venue to make a successful event, then the GMU Patriots would sell out every basketball game and the George Jones concert would have attracted more than 200 people.
You know and I know the crazy number of people that filled the Patriot Center came because of Jimmy and the show and talent his team produced.

How is Rivera whose record is 10-4, and his opponents combined records are 60-83-9 make for a tougher fight for Jimmy (30-3-2) whose opponents have 89 more wins then losses, and compare that to Rivera's opponents have 23 more LOSSES compared to wins. No matter how you look at it Lange is the better fighter, who has faced the better opposition. No matter how we look at the stats Lange comes out ahead on the paper and also in the ring. Rivera is a nice guy who can do well with Joe, but don't get the kid in to deep and feed him to lions (Lange and Miller). I am pretty sure Joe wouldn't let Sigmon fight Ridgeway, with the excuse Ridgway doesn't have the experience (because they know he would stop Sigmon), so Joe and the team of major league douche bags must be completely retarded for thinking the Langes should consider this(because the Langes don't need to stop a bum).

First of all, I didn't write the comment signed "JOE HENSLY". If you are going to sign my name at least spell it correctly. Secondly, we want to fight Jimmy Lange and the public wants to see the fight. As you know it has generated enough buzz to have an independent and unbiased writer, Chris Nicholson, write an extensive article on the proposed matchup several months back. The public wants it, we want it, and even though they are dragging their feet, I think that Lange wants the fight. George deserves a shot at Lange because of his wins over Jesse Nicklow and Clarence "Sonny Bono" Taylor. They are both better than Lange and George has beaten them decisively. George will beat Lange, I am 100% certain of that. They know that too, which is why they haven't taken the fight up to this point. It will happen and I think it will happen sooner rather than later.

Someone actually published this.... I am not knocking on Jimmy Lange. His record is impressive and deserves its respect. But to say Rivera would be fed to the Lions and having Jimmy's name in that sentance. Is comical.

Lange is a lion compared to Rivera! Rivera is a punch and run fighter, who would spend the whole fight trying to hit and then run, and it would be a bad night for him when Jimmy cuts the ring off and traps him on the ropes. You can say Lange's opponents were on the decline all you want, but give me an excuse for Rivera losing to the guys he lost too. Jesse better then Jimmy? Jesse is too short to fight Jimmy. That would be another Grover Wiley fight. Rivera hasn't fought anybody other then Nicklow. Joe I hate to say this but you must be suffering from a severe case of dyslexia, if you really think Taylor (13-22-4) is better then Lange! It is not that we want tp see the fight. Robles couldn't stop Amos, and was beaten twice by Bailey, Adam Seal was stopped by Bailey, Sigmon is yet to fight anyone (and will be stopped by Jeter or Ridgeway), and then you have Rivera who has been beaten by Rodney Green, Charles Norwood, Laif Mundy, I wont put Nicklow in there because he can fight a little, but please don't try to lie and say that Rivera has fought tougher and better opposition.
Interesting stuff...I like Jimmy personally and as a fighter. I don't know George Rivera but I have seen him fight and I think Joe has done a good job with him.
That said with the exception of Ishmail Arvin, I don't think there is another 154 in this area that is as battle tested as Jimmy. That gives him a huge advantage. I would love to see a Lange v Rivera bout but I think Jimmy would stop George inside of 8 rds.

What can I tell you other than you're wrong. George has had some inconsistent performances in his career but if you have seen what I have seen from George you wouldn't pick Lange in the fight. And as far as George being a hit and run fighter, that's wrong too. See, what makes George special is that he doesn't just have one style. George can move, yes, but George can also work behind the jab and break you down with his power. George can swat, he hits a lot harder than people give him credit for. Jesse Nicklow knows, believe me. Sonny Bono knows too. George hit him with a right hand that if Sonny didn't have a chin of granite would have knocked him out for sure. But it did wobble Sonny a little bit. And yes, Sonny is better than Lange. All you have to do is look at some recent fights of Sonny's to know that he is better than Lange. Sonny's fight with Gee Cullmer is on GoFightLive.tv and Sonny lost by controversial split decision to Cullmer who I believe is something like 16 and 1. Sonny also got shafted a few years back against Billy Lyell, the guy that just beat Johny Duddy. Sonny also hurt Vanes Martirosyan with a big shot in their fight. I was ringside when Sonny fought Giovanni Lorenzo. That fight was even when it got stopped. I think Sonny would stop Lange. Lange is very basic. And like Brian said, putting Rivera in with Lange isn't exactly throwing him to the lions. We're talking Jimmy Lange here people, not Roy Jones or Mike Tyson in their prime. Lange will do what he always does, work behind a jab, go to the body, wear wear you down, and then try to beat you up. He's tough and he's in great shape but George will beat him like a drum. You will see. And why would I make enemies? I am only saying publicly what just about everybody in boxing knows to be the truth (and signing my name to boot) - Jimmy Lange is just an ordinary, average guy. We'll fight him any day of the week.

You're 100% right. Jimmy is a ordinary guy who just happens to be tough as nails and can box, and George Rivera is nothing but a ghetto punk who can't box. Maybe from down in your neck of the woods he is something special, but to us city folk Rivera has nothing but thug written all on him. I will not buy a ticket to watch Jimmy beat a thug up! it really isn't going to matter because Rivera will more then likely lose to whoever he fights on your next card. Jimmy might be a basic fighter, but those basic fundamentals are something Rivera and all those scrubs are lacking. Honestly it is not there their fault, because their trainer doesn't have the knowledge to pass on to them!
