There are a couple of ways you can support your local amateur programs. On Saturday, March 28, the Upton Boxing Center is having an amateur card featuring boxers from Baltimore and DC. Call 443-984-2588 for details. The Upton Center is located at 1901 Pennsylvania Avenue in Baltimore.
Then on Saturday, April 4, Keely's District Boxing and Youth Center in DC will be hosting a black tie gala in the Regency Ballroom of the Omni Shoreham Hotel located at 2500 Calvert Street, NW in DC. The main event of the gala will be a dual boxing event between Keely's Boxing Team and a team from Northern Ireland. There will also be a dinner and a silent auction plus special appearances by former world heavyweight champions Joe Frazier and Larry Holmes as well as former heavyweight contender Gerry Cooney.
VIP tickets for this event are $200 and general admission is $125. Call the Youth Center at 202-232-0193 to purchase tickets.
