  16. come on man, stop spamming about govan and Genova. We get it, you are fighting Saturday. Pretty hard for a beast to come our of nowhere. Most of these open fighters were discussing were either good jos or they made some noise at other open tournaments!!! What have these two done? The USA tournament is for cash money!!! Where were these two? You might read some crap on here but some of actually follow theamateur boxing scene locally, nationally and internahionally. So please enlighten those of us on why u are riding these two so hard?

  17. Sorry for typos. Phone has autocorrect and small screen.

    ReplyDelete
  18. you are right about the nationals but this is the golden gloves, the beginning where names are made. the govan comments are cool because he has a chance...maybe. but traon and a few more current stars will be on display, no doubt

    ReplyDelete
  19. bottom line, fox v day day. i like this one. one moves on, one dont. good luck to both boxers.

    ReplyDelete
  20. you eric govan fans should read saturday's comments. it said: eric govan lost to peterkin in the 09 regionals. im not gonna pick a winner but govan faces him in the finals if he wins this saturday. traon, thomas williams, ronald gamble will be there. did i mention fox v day day?

  21. golden gloves boxing is alive and well and kicking here in dc. all the comments have been great no disrespecting but comments are open for debate, which was cleverly done. keep the comments coming. Gary D, great job!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I can't name any gg national winners who began to mske their name in the gloves . I know it has happened at some point, but Most were already known on the national scene. That was my point. But time will tell.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Dana Ruckers made his name in the gloves. locally and on a national level.

    ReplyDelete
  24. you are right, most kids come thru the j.o. program. but in the mens group, you gotta do the gloves to make the gg nationals. im just saying its an honor to do the gg's. kids should want to leave their mark here. beltway boxing #1. we got 24hr boxing news right here.

    ReplyDelete
  25. man i like the debates. you guys have good boxing minds. good job keeping it clean. beltway boxing is #1.

  26. Appreciate the comments and of course, the support. I know the boxers and everyone involved appreciates your support.

Let me warn you, if you think it's busy now, wait until April. We have a schedule that is jam-packed. I will announce the schedule on the Post-Fight Wrap-Up show following the March 19 card at Martin's West.

    ReplyDelete
  27. And of course, will post the schedule over the weekend.

  29. what u think gary bout bo i havent seen him in like a year fighting good 2 see him back

  30. Don't let the word Golden fool you. With the exception of Thomas Williams and Alantez Fox all the other competitors in this tournament lost at home in the USA Tourney. The USA is a qualifier to the US Championships. As of this year, the GG can't qualify you. Govan did make it to the regionals, but lost the first round. Young Titans probably didn't get the flyer to the USA. I know they would have joined. Make no mistake, the USA is the higher ranking tournament. If the Golden Gloves doesn't straighten out it's issues, it won't be an Olympic qualifier in 2012!

  31. As you can see, these matches can't be seen on Youtube!! You got to come through me to see the video! $30 per bout is my price. I'm not up on the apron taping for nothing! I got bills to pay!!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. This is the real Juice. That imposter has it all wrong. My tapes are $35, not $30. Just make sure you have on 3D glasses for all the jiggling that happens because I try to officiate and coach from the top of the ring.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Can I get the tapes on Betamax ? I don't like it when people ask me to borrow things.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Betamax will cost you $50.

    ReplyDelete
  35. No matter what he charges , most of the proceeds are donated back to the PVA. He has been a good supporter for years. Profits from those tapes bought a lot of plane tickets. Don't bite the hand that feeds the PVA!

    ReplyDelete
  36. juice how do we contact you? i need about 4 copies.

    ReplyDelete
  37. the best 2 bouts will be whitlock vs. bynum, and fox vs. grayton. Both figths are going to be decided by who wants it more. I also think the thomas williams fight will be a good one, depends on which williams show's up

  39. since gary allen russell is injured, any predictions on who will be he top stars in this tournament?

    ReplyDelete
  40. for the people who think much of the dc gg, yes legends are made here. ask day day and fox. one of them wont make it out. one of them wont be going to the national gg.

    ReplyDelete
  41. i pick fox to win. fox is more experienced, and he will advance. he lost in the regional finals. he needs this one. he needs this one badly.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Fox needs it just as much as DayDay. Fox just turned open and has some time. Some of these older guys should be turning pro after this. Saturday should be a night to remember!

    ReplyDelete
  43. These guys still have to win two or three more bouts to advance to the Nationals. Don't forget about Ty Newton and some other weights that have to meet up. You still have JC's to go.

    ReplyDelete
  44. we have been talking about other fighters but traon gets my respect. kid earned it. whitlock will be ready. this one has been a sleeper. not anymore!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. a lot of good fighters are on this card and it is almost star studded. but lets speed ahead a little bit. any predictions for the finals? what are the matchups? who is gonna win? its only gonna get better.

    ReplyDelete
  46. this week im going with traon, fox, and thomas williams, who i think should stay in the amateurs. kid is good but he is still learning. ron gamble might not win. joel young wins. govan wins and word is he wants peterkin in a rematch very bad.

  48. Aww man stop downing this kid Thomas Williams. This kid is clearly ready for the pros he has been to four or five nationals over 40 fights. And he is ranked 3rd or 4th in the USA in the lightheavyweight division. I don't even know this kid personally. But he is ready. Good luck Thomas!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. i would never doubt thomas williams. he is a great young man. i just said he should wait. he knows whether he is ready or not. i wish him the best.
