Results From Day Two of Washington Golden Gloves!

Here are the results from day two of the Washington Golden Gloves at the Sugar Ray Leonard Center as four junior champions were crowned in bouts during this evening's competition:

8 Year Old, 60 pounds: Sean Veazey (Baltimore Boxing) defeated Quinton Johnson (Hillcrest)

9-10, 65 pounds: Greg Burton (Langdon Recreation Center) defeated Titus Murphy (Main Street).

Interesting note concerning that bout. Legendary Beltway Boxer Darryll "Terrible T" Tyson worked Burton's corner while undefeated current pro Fernando Guerrero was in the Murphy corner.

8, 70 pounds: Jamere Jones (Frederick) defeated Jaleen Pugh (Hillcrest)

16, 141 pounds: Mike Reed (Dream Team) defeated Cody Eisner (Baltimore Boxing)

Two boxers won titles via walkover:

9-10, 80 pounds: Joseph Veazey (Baltimore Boxing)

14, 119 pounds: Jarell Harris (Langdon)

In other junior results this evening:

9-10, 75 pounds: Daniel Walsh (Old School Boxing) defeated Deonte Washington (Diamonds in the Ruff)

11, 80 pounds: Mack Allison IV (Upton) defeated Theron Johnson III (Diamonds in the Ruff)

16, 119 pounds: Shadeed Floyd (Langdon) defeated Cesar Rojas (Round One). This was the bout of the night, a very spirited encounter.

The 15-16, 156 pound bout between Andres Perdomo (Nomis) and Demond Nicholson (Cherry Lane) was moved to next Saturday, March 7.

In Novice Division action:

132 pounds: Hlan Thaw (Loch Raven) RSC-3 Greg Wright (Baltimore Boxing)

141 pounds: Johnny Da Silva (Round One) defeated Joseph Iobbi (Loch Raven)

141 pounds: Chris Hernandez (Round One) defeated Juan Llivichuzhca (Baltimore Boxing)

165 pounds: Reginald Lucas (Upton) defeated Joe Banks (unattached)

178 pounds: Quincey Nelson (Hillcrest) RSC-1 Allante Ward (Sugar Ray Leonard Center)

201 pounds: Zachary Wilkerson (Nomis) RSC-1 Timothy Cartwright (Down Under)


The Washington Golden Gloves resume Saturday, March 7 at 7:30 PM at the Sugar Ray Leonard Center. Event organizers say the Open Division boxers will start to compete next Saturday with 11 bouts. There will also be four junior championships and seven Novice bouts for a total of 22 scheduled bouts. We'll have the bout sheet by the middle of next week.

daniel walsh got lucky he should not have won that fight it but what do u expect he boxs for oldschool the judges give them alot of fights they dont win just look at dusty.

Here we go again - robbery without weapons. Give me a break - Ward was really tired. Pretty good call considering the experience of both boxers. Better luck next time. The best thing to do in this situation is to go back to the gym with your head up high and continue training.

look here man i need some of that laughing gas your on .every week you make these stupid comments about getting robbed lets call it like it is the officials stink they make bad calls week after week .its not fair to are boxers the officials should be held to a higher standard but what do u expect when u get them off the streats. now give me some of that gas
