Richard McCombs I just had to check on you and your claim to win the Silver Gloves. Your name is no where to be found. You are a fraud! By the way, Manny Pac Man beat the crap out of the other fraud Oscar last night. See you Tuesday...

William or anyone...Can you tell me where you found info on Silver Gloves? I have been trying to get info on it and my web searches aren't pulling too much history. Thanks.

Official Silver Gloves sight is www.silvergloves.com, but that is the nationals. There are no sites that have the local or regional winners from the past. Ray Rogers, the President of the Silver Gloves turned it into from a small tournament to THE only national advancing tournament for 8-15 year olds. This was done over the past 15-20 years, but again it really isn't online. I have the final results going back to 2002.

It's very difficult and impossible to actually research the winners of the locals silvers unless you are checking the tournament organizers records. Richard McCombs didn't say he won the nationals, he said he won in 1996 at Ray Leonard's which would have been the locals. Boy, you bloggers are really quick to be negative.

RICHARD - the regionals are in Wilmington, NC from the 7th - 10th of January.

RICHARD - you know that you just can't let anonymous haters get to you. Congratulations on your win of the DC Silvers.

We have some of the best young boxers in DC and they always represent nationally and even internationally. I think along with California boxers, DC amateur boxers are tops in the US. Philadelphia and Texas also have a lot of great amateur boxers. That's just my opinion.

Richard, I'm just curious - do you remember some of the other boxers that boxed at those regionals (from DC or other states)? I always find it interesting when you look at professional's amateur careers - and I'm sure some of those that participated in 96 went on to Olympics. Was Clarence Vinson there? Calvin Brock from NC? They both were on that 2000 team.

Holy Cow! It seems like just yesterday that some of these boxers were 50 pounds lighter.

Spencer harlsey, anthony & lamont peterson,a fighter named calvin from highland etc. Clarence vincent wasn't there howevwer I made it to the regionals and lost. Mr. hinton & and Barry Hunter were team leaders they treated us real well out there in Georgia. alot as changed since then im sure as far as fight scoring and the overall experience im sure.
