Glen Burnie, MD heavyweight Nick Kisner has won his first bout at the AIBA Youth World Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico. Kisner defeated Martin Krelina of the Czech Republic 10-4 just moments ago. Kisner will face Ivan Dychko of Kazakhstan in the second round on Wednesday. Dychko is regarded as one of the medal favorites in this tournament as he won the Brandenburg Youth Cup this year.
By the way, should Kisner get to the finals, there is a possibility that he may face Erislandy Savon of Cuba, the nephew of legendary three-time Olympic gold medalist Felix Savon.
Kisner is the only Beltway Boxer remaining in these championships because Fort Washington, MD featherweight Kevin Rivers lost a heartbreaker to Vitali Varabyeu of Belarus, 12-11 in second-round competition.
