Nice job Joe.

One thing I don't get: why wasn't the T-Brick fight ruled a victory by KO or TKO instead of technical draw?

A good show. Started on time, well run.
The only problems were the officials. Some points were deducted in fights that were questionable, some decisions were ridiculous (Prioe - Petty), and a stoppage was made in one fight with the fighter still fighting back.
Overall, the show was extremely well organized. ProMotion Sports set the standard for boxing shows in Va.
The local newspaper has been a big supporter of this show and boxing in general. Can't wait for the next one. Maybe ESPN will be there?

This show was great and we hope Rick Hawkins and Promotion Sports brings another event to Roanoke soon! It was evident there was no "home-town cooking" in this arena. It was unfortunate that James Price lost a decision that was ridiculous...not sure what the judges were smokin'. Novia was a least a draw, and the referee stopped Chalamers AFTER fighting back hard and throwing 3 right hooks....Stopping the fight??? WHAT WAS THAT ABOUT?
That would and should have been a Heck of Fight!Maybe the referee stood in that VIP room too long!..or maybe he knew he had a long drive back home. But the big thing.....where was Jaywon's 5 minutes??? The referee was quick to stop the Chalmers fight...it was evident that when Jaywon Wood went through the ropes, where was the referree?? A totally illegal blow should have resulted in Jaywon getting his 5 minutes, or a disqualification from his opponet. That is a RULE! Promotion Sports did a great job welcoming back boxing to Roanoke, and it's unfortunate it encompassed some very bad judgements by the commission, judges and referees. I've been a boxing fan for over 40 years, and know bad decisions when I see them.

It was a great event. I was impressed with the show. I have a good idea. Maybe they could charge a little more for the tickets, so they could hire some better officials. I would pay more for a ticket knowing I would see fair results.

i agree the show was good. But dont charge more for tickets. It took me $120 dollars in gas to get their.Match making was good except Spivey vs. Anderson. That shouldnt of been approved. But other than that Scott did a good job.

True, it was an illegal punch by Terry Roy but it was a nothing punch, it was like a slap. Woods was going to get stopped and he knew it, he was dog tired! If Woods was really hurt by that punch he would have dropped immediately, not after at least two seconds. And where was the ref? He took his sweet time, at least 5 seconds, to get between Roy and Woods. Roy probably thought that if the ref didn't get between them then he had a chance to punch the guy. Woods had his back to Roy and was draped over the ropes. Roy came around with the punch and smacked Woods in the face, he didn't hit him in the back of his head. And when Woods had this opportunity to get out of that fight he took it. He was given his five minutes to continue and he said he couldn't. He thought he was going to get the victory by DQ if he couldn't continue. Truth be told, I was surprised by both guys, Roy and Woods. Roy is much better than I thought and Woods is much worse than I thought. The rematch may draw some money and I would like to see it!

The officials come with the commission. Va., along with Md. and D.C. has a lot of boxing right now. Va. needs to get officials who can keep up. Both refs and the judges screwed up repeatedly last night.
The Price - Petty fight is the worst decision I've ever seen. Price won all four rounds easily.

My goodness that guy Jargnal is a monster he looked extremly good I would love to see him and Andrew Farmer go at it they would be a big fight in Virginia

Jargal is a monster! But so is Farmer! Don't waste that fight with no TV money for the guys. Let it mature.

The Virginia refs last night were Billy Johnson and Malik Walid and they are both good officials who screwed up repeatedly last night. In the Farmer-Vega fight Walid stopped the action when Farmer had Vega in trouble but no knockdown was ruled. This gave Vega about a 5 second window to recover and it would have been a chance for Farmer to score a first round knockout of the durable Vega.

Billy Johnson flat out blew it in the Terry Roy-Jaywon Woods bout. Woods had his back to Roy and was draped over the top rope. Roy was having a good round against Woods and because Johnson was slow to get in between them (heck, he was more than slow, he didn't get in between the fighters at all, he never said stop, etc.) Roy took this as a sign that the action had not been halted. If the action hasn't been stopped then it's okay to punch, right? Well Roy took the shot against Woods and Woods is darn well lucky that he got the opportunity to lay down against T-Brick because Roy would have stopped Woods in that round or the following one for sure. It's a darn shame that bad officiating led to technical draw for Roy when it was obvious to even someone like Ray Charles that Jaywon Woods was trying to get a DQ win. Name any other cruiserweight in the region and almost all of them are better than the Jaywon Woods I saw last night.

By the way, Malik Walid is one of the better refs/judges in Maryland and I am pretty sure that Billy Johnson also works for the DC Commission as well. Good refs and judges, yes. Perfect guys who don't ever make a mistake? No.

And the heavyweight bout was god awful. It was Mutt vs. Jeff and they were both dogs. In my opinion that fight should have been left off the show because it degraded an otherwise outstanding card. Those guys could not fight a lick, not even a little bit! As far as the decision goes in that one, who cares? Both of those guys should be put on suspension for life for impersonating professional boxers!

Let's end on a positive note. Good show, good venue, good matchmaking! Can't wait for the next one!

FACT-Promotion Sports made their debut as a class act. FACT-the officiating stunk up the joint!
Can't wait for the next one Rick and Keith !!

Great Nite! I agree with many that there were some terrible calls made by both the refs and the judges, but there were enough bouts on the card to keep things interesting. Can't wait for the next one and hopefully this guy "Doo-Man" comes back. He footwork was even better than his technique!!!

what about todd wilson, farmer or jargal cant beat him.and he would fight any one of them.

Anonymous said...

what about todd wilson???? I would have to say that neither jargal or farmer are punks and all todd would ave to do is sign the contract, well i mean sign his death certificate. What weight would that be at anyway? Wilson puts on like 30 lbs. in between fights. I would love to see that one. hahaha i'm still laughing

Todd Wilson?
Are you fucking serious.
Were talking real thourobreds here
not ponys.
This must be that Hensley guy trying some of his tactics to try to get some publicity like he did when Robles fought Amos.Fight of the year? what a damn joke.
Sure you could probobly talk Todd into taking the fight with one of the real pro's just like you sent Robles to his exicution and Rivera as well. What would Farmer or Jargal have to gain by fighting
Wilson? Absolutley nothing.Let him fight somebody with some cridentials and win and then maybe one of the two would have something
to gain by Knocking Wilson out.

Would just like to say thanks to all the fighters that were on the show for their effort and for making this event a huge sucess for Pro Motion Sports (Rick Hawkins
and Kieth Frazier).
I would also like to Publically thank Rick and Keith for allowing me to serve them as their matchmaker .
One last comment,Mo Chalmers is a talent that if handled right is capable of doing some big things in the sport of Boxing.
Scott Farmer

your can say what you want, farmer nor jargal would not fight todd. give farmer or jargal a contract, i bet it will get lost somewhere. i am sorry todd is just to much for the both of them.and both camps know that, farmer would go in three jargal in two.

Anonymous said...

well if you are so sure that they would get knocked out why don't you send scott farmer or willie taylor the damn contract then?

Anonymous said...

Todd Wilson could verly handle
125 pound Henry or Edward anderson.
And you think that by people responding to your comments that it's keeping Todds name in the mix and maybe it will validate your chickenshit opinion and people will think he's really on Farmer or Jargals level.People are smarter than that Joe.

BACK STABBERS
THE O'JAYS

(What they do!)
(They smile in your face)
All the time they want to take your place
The back stabbers (back stabbers)
(They smile in your face)
All the time they want to take your place
The back stabbers (back stabbers)
..........
Blades are long, clenched tight in their fist
Aimin' straight at your back
And I don't think they'll miss
(What they do!)
(They smile in your face)
All the time they want to take your place
The back stabbers (back stabbers)
..........
I wish they'd take some of these knives off my back
(They smile in your face)
All the time they want to take your place
The back stabbers (back stabbers)
Low down... dirty...
(What they do!)
(They smile in your face)
Smiling faces... smiling faces sometimes tell lies (Back stabbers)
(They smile in your face)
I don't need... low down, dirty bastards (Back stabbers)

Due to many good folks working together, Pro-Motion Sports had a sucessful event. Thanks go to our local media, sponsors and fans for supporting the show. The fighters deserve alot of credit for their effort in the ring and for entertaining the crowd.

We appreciate the great matchmaking by Scott Farmer for our first event. The sport is fortunate to have such a man within its' ranks and living in Virginia.

Along with my partner Rick Hawkins, I look forward to another 'Fight-Nite' soon.

On the Terry Roy VS Jaywon Woods
fight Marcus Luck along with his fighter completely underestimated the Farmer Camp in this fight.
Woods is amuch better fighter than
he showed against Roy and in a rematch Woods would stop Terry Roy
inside of three rounds if he applied himself and took the fight seriously all he would have to do is get on Roys coat tail and stay there until it was over.

Jaywon Woods TKO in three over
The imposter from the hills,
Terry Roy in a Rematch.
As for the other fights on the card
that night , brilliantly matched
Even the Giant VS the Midget was entertaining to alot of people.
The Main Event was filled with everything you want in a main event,Blood ,knockdowns, the fighters not wanting to break when the bell sounded, and even a little sugar Ray from Farmer during the fight.
This is a young man who if he keeps developing the way he has the past two years will turn into
something very special in the sport of boxing.
Again Kudos to everyone involved with the promotion of the show.
