BATB Future File: Lange Returns November 1 to Patriot Center!

It's official: Great Falls, VA junior middleweight Jimmy Lange makes his return on Saturday, November 1 as he headlines his sixth card at the George Mason University Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA.

Lange has been idle for 17 months as he recovered from surgery on a shoulder injury that took place during his WBC Continental Americas Junior Middleweight title bout against Fontaine Cabell on May 12, 2007 at the Patriot Center. Because Lange was unable to box, he had to relinquish the Continental Americas title that is now held by Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr.

No word yet on who Lange's opponent will be.

Obviously you do or you would not have stepped into this link to say something negative about a card not even announced.
If this is Perry Ballard trying to get a re-match... Forget about it!

Wow, it didn't take long for Mr. annonymous to come out of his hole to begin the Jimmy and Perry bashing. Predictable, but pathetic nonetheless.

You can name as many guys as you want from this area in Jimmy's weight class, but name one who could draw anywhere close to the 5,000+ that Jimmy and Perry did during their meeting, an average that has been sustained over five Patriot Center cards now.

Yep, I could too. You've got Ishmail Arvin, Jesse Nicklow, and George Rivera right off the bat. Throw in Josh Snyder and Tim Coleman and Lange wouldn't win a round against most of those guys. He is tough though and he'd take a hell of a beating (Lange that is).

Yeah... but none of them could pull anything even remotely close to Lange.

Ishamel Arvin's coming out party in DC the oterh day didn't even pull a 1,000.

If Lange's people (his pops) get their act together, they would use Jimmy against safe opponents to sell tickets, then develop real world class ass-kickers on the undercard and sign 'em up.

And also develop the next white boy super ticket seller to sustain the development of real talent underneath once Jimmy can't hold it together anymore.

Ticket-sellers and ass-kickers, most of the time, are mutually exclusive.

Boxbible,

That's not the best comparison, because it looked like 200 would just about bust Ibiza's seams. I bet ESPN is still having nightmares thinking about setting up in there.

apparently if you build it (a boxing ring) people will come.

Yup they sure do attract me!

I love the Peterson Brothers!

Then why don't you marry one of them

Jimmy and Johnny eat the cheese! Jimmy won't fight anybody at all with a pulse you will see!

Go ahead and fight one of those five guys somebody mentioned and he'll get knocked the fuck out!

The Patriot center shows did not have an average attendance of 5000
with all the shows. That sounds really nice but it's just not true.
The attendance steadily declined
after the disc Jockey brought in the big crowd.I still can't belive
that people were so interested in seeing somebody like J.P.Flaim.
It was a very nice undercard with some pretty good ticket sellers
on it,and if the truth be known
they probobly deserve alot of the credit for putting asses in the seat.

don't think i didn't read that. smarty.

"The Patriot center shows did not have an average attendance of 5000 with all the shows. That sounds really nice but it's just not true. The attendance steadily declined after the disc Jockey brought in the big crowd."

There was a grand total of ONE Patriot Center boxing card (Lange/Cabell II)following JP Flaim, the disk jockey, so I'd hardly call that "a steady decline."

I was at all five cards and the best attended was probably Lange/Gilbert, which was about 6,500 as I recall.

The Patriot Center can look deceptively empty with a boxing configuration because so much of the seating is on the floor, and because so many people are roaming before the main event.

When Perry Ballard fought Hector Camacho in Houston, they concentrated the seating and draped off a third of the arena for backstage space.

I've seen the Patriot Center do that before for David Copperfield and even Sesame Street Live (spare me the Sesame Street jokes, please.)

5,000 is a boxing crowd that just about any promoter would envy, and it's too bad that there are not many "in the round" venues around here in between the "club fight" and "stadium show" capacity.

But yes, I think the 5,000 estimate is a fair per-show average count. I'm curious, anonymous, from where do you get your stats and why aren't you standing behind your words with your name?

You need a venue with at least 2000 seats to sell to be able to absorb the marketing costs to sell a decent card.

Anything smaller and you can't afford to advertise it. Then you depend on ticket-sellers and that's when you encounter the mismatch problem, or bum problem to put it more accurately.

Don't forget about Charles Norwood! Lange couldn't hurt him and he would stop Lange! Orazio Robinson would give him fits but he hasn't fought in a while.

why is it so important to you for someone to put their name on a statement about attendance at a show.I am in agreement with them in that the attendance was not an average of 5000 per show.
It's not that hard to sit in the arena and count the people.
It's obvious that you want to escalate the interest surrounding
the patriot center show and I hope that it winds up being a great
show and the place gets sold out
but don't tell lies and don't try to start fights on this silly web site because someone doesn't go along with your manipulative story.

This is sooooo funny because it doesn't take a rocket fan to know that the number the Langes' camp brings is more...than most can dream of Along Our Beltway.

I do not understand half of the people on this blog. One half Completely bash fightersno matter if they win fights or not. The other half just wait to bash them when they lose the fights. I mean honestly, nobody in the entire beltway area has put as many asses in the seats as he. Given that he has a undercard that sells tickets everytime, if they couldn't they wouldn't be there! But my point is why bash the langes? They are doing there best to move jimmy and in the process they are doing it here at home. That gives the fans something to see and the local fighters a place to fight. You can say what you want about jimmy but he is no "punk". he may not have beaten every one he has faced, big damn deal. Half of those names that were listed are not worthy of fighting a main event on such a card. They are unproven prospects not seasoned veterans with 30 or so fights like jimmy. I may seem like a lange fan, but i am just trying to shine some light on the situation. I just think that we need to be supportive of all of our beltway boxers and if they lose or if they win, big deal at least there is boxing in the beltway area! So basically to sum it up.... Shut up and let these guys fight and support them and stop beeing jealous.

Are there going to be any local fighters on the under card? if so they are going to have to fight a war to put the asses in the seats no Jimmy Lange thats how they sell there cards. They blame it on Chris M.They have Jackie Kallen who don't want to pay the fighters any money. so we will see. She's Snow manager so that bum would be on the card I bet.

I downloaded Snow's fight in Philly. He looked real good... for a round and a half.

Combos, slick defense, and good movement sliding low off the ropes although a couple of right hands did get through. But Snow also landed a couple of good shots.

But then, for one split moment, he went up against the ropes, stood straight up with his hands still high, and got NAILED!!!

He took two more shots on the way down... pretty hard knockout. If he comes back from this, that'll be an accomplishment in itself.

I sure hope they make Bayan Jargnal vs Jaime Palma that would be a fight worth watching

That fight would never ever happen!!!!! One is a good strong fighter and the other is scared to take a chance. One is just too strong for the other!
