In The Ring magazine, columnist Jim Bagg gives an award called a Stingray, where he honors a veteran boxer who wins a bout over a rising prospect.
Don't be surprised if Portsmouth, VA cruiserweight William "The Storm" Bailey gets the Stingray in a future Ring magazine. Last night, in front of his home crowd at the Renaissance Portsmouth Hotel in Portsmouth, VA, Bailey scored an eight-round unanimous decision over "El Guero" Juan Carlos Robles of Waynesboro, VA. Power shots apparently proved to be the difference.
Bailey, who told me that he would retire after beating Derek Amos in Fisherville, VA in April of 2007, has won two of his last four since that bout. Bailey's record is now 9-14-2, five KO's.
Robles, who was trying to bounce back after his TKO loss to contender Rob Calloway last March, is now 9-2, four KO's.
In the co-feature, Norfolk, VA's Bobby Jordan, Jr. won an eight-round unanimous decision over Takoma Park, MD's Willis "The Prophet" Lockett. Jordan dropped Lockett en route to the victory. Jordan remains undefeated at 5-0-1, two KO's while Lockett is now 10-6-4, four KO's.
Also on the card, Montgomery, AL middleweight John "No Mercy" Mackey stopped DC's Larry "The Gladiator" Brothers at the end of the fourth round when Brothers could not come out for the fifth. This was the second time Mackey has defeated the veteran Brothers. Mackey is now 10-1, three KO's. Brothers falls to 7-31-3, five KO's.
Norfolk, VA lightweight Stephan Alexander scored a second-round TKO over Philadelphia's Gustavo Dailey. Alexander is now 3-0, three KO's while Dailey is 2-3.
In a female bout, Brooklyn, NY heavyweight Tanzee Daniels scored her second straight win over Wilson, NC's Tiffany Woodard. This time, it was a four-round unanimous decision. Daniels is 2-0 while Woodard is 1-2.
Miguel Gonzalez of Virginia won by second-round TKO over David Derby.

I can't see how Larry Brothers still gets approval to fight. I spoke with him about 3-4 years ago and his speech was terribly slurred. He needs to find a new profession...
Robles better find a new profession too or he's gonna end up like Brothers with all those right hands he be taking.
Larry Brothers can pass any physicl you want. AND, more importantly, he is still very dangerous.
i told you robles could not fight. for sure william cant fight and he beat someone worse than him.
All the comments of the Bailey vs Robles fight were not there so i can not understand why you would make the comments.
JUAN CAN FIGHT! I think he just needs to get into his stride. It was a pretty bad accident he had last year and considering that he did an amazing job being put to Calloway right off the mend. Storm has been active and fighting all the while. Hope Storm and Robles keeps fighting. Both have tremendous potential and charisma and always bring everything they have win or lose.
I was there and this was a case of Bailey was on and I meen really on
and Juan wasn't.Their is nobody that trains harder than Juan Robles
and their is nobody tougher mentally than Juan and I can guarentee you that you haven't heard the last of this guy.
When Bailey was an amateure and with Dan Campbell I was his biggest fan.Even though I was pulling for juan last Saturday
It was good to see Bailey looking sharp. Both of you guys put on a
good show and showed alot of class.
The best of luck to the both of you.
Lou may be fat and old... but he ain't arrogant... and he doesn't promote the shows, so he can't really stiff anybody.
His son Dino handles the promotional end nowadays...
Well Dino wasn't around and Lou was/is arrogant AND he stiffed a guy for $500. He was supposed to pay him $1,500 and paid $1,000.
You know I always hear these comments about how tough Juan Robles is. That might be. And he seems like a nice enough guy...but the fact is he hasn't beaten anyone decent.
The top cruiserweights in VA are Terry Roy, William Baily, and possibly Dana Dunston.
We'll see what's next for him. I guess he lost to Bailey which was quite a suprise to most. I've seen all those guys but even though he lost to Bailey, surely Robles is a big step up from Roy and especially Dunston.
juan can fight and he fights well. he should have won but when you got a boxer in his hometown, he always wins. lets see....bailey was in his hometown.Heck, bailey isnt even that good! he got lucky this time.
To say that Bailey won because he was the hometown boxer you are full of it. I will put it to you plain and simple. Va judges score the fight for the winner no matter where they come from. And yes they make mistakes ask hometown Jimmy Lange about that. It's a shame they allow fools to post messages.
Anon said, "It's a shame they allow fools to post messages."
A damn shame... :^{
Terry Roy vs. Robles.Lets do it on the Jimmy Lainge card.I will kick his ass.Get the contract ready and i will sign it.He knows i will beat him,He wont fight me.I game for this lets get it on.
yours truly Terry T-Brick Roy
Shut yo mouth! You know better than that!
Terry Roy Has a manager
roy this is from someone that knows, stay away from kimodi cheatham. he only have a half toe in boxing.gave one show now going around talking to other people boxers, saying he can do this and do that.farmer did a lot for you, cheatham is shit on shit.
I only have one thing to say about Roy, Know your boundaries because if you overstep them they WILL land you ass in court and not be allowed to fight again!!!!
Scott your FIRED.......
T.Roy 4 real
We have gotten a little off subject on this particular article. While I belive Robles is a good fighter with alot of potential, lets look at a couple of facts. He has lost his last two fights. One must wonder what he was doing even fighting Calloway (spelling) All of Robles opponents combined since he turned pro had only won 3 of their last 41 fights, and had a combined record 0f 73 wins and 148 losses, then the poor guy gets tossed in against Calloway, whom I remind you has not lost since November 11, 2006. That loss was against a ranked heavyweight. Calloway was also on a 11 win streak before the Robles fight, and 10 of those wins were by knockout. Again, what was Robles doing in that fight. He needed to fight some more tune up fights so to speak, pad the record a little more, and most importantly build more confidence. I do not believe that he should of lost to Bailey, I'm not trying to take anything from Bailey, I just thought that Robles was the better fighter at the time. I hear all the time that no one wanted to fight Robles, then maybe instead of throwing him to the dogs against Calloway too soon, maybe the show should of been taken on the road against lesser talented opponents.
I wish Juan the best of luck, hopefully he can adapt and improvise. He has an excellent worth ethic, and the heart of a champion, although there is no substitue for time and experience.

Those have been my thought for awhile. That was so well said. Juan has a huge heart and Is a dedicated and good boxer, with great potential. I think his camp has and will do a great job with him, but I think it might benefit them/him to step outside the box and get some additional, supplemental training. At least with seeing the right. That should have been locked down after the Calloway fight.
btw, he did himself proud in the fight against Calloway I don't think anyone would have lasted that long coming straight off an injury to face an opponent of that calibre.
i know who you are........ typing those messages that are supposed to be from terry.....your his boss... i know who you are....watch yourself....cuz you are under contract too......i know who you are.....
-boxing fan
Dave B,
I'm glad somebody has a good set of eyes! Too bad the VA judges can't see as well as you. Juan won that fight handily but Bailey did fight a great fight for sure.
This is Juan R. I know that T-brick did not make those comments on here because he called me personally. If Terry ever wanted to fight me he knows how to get in contact with me. We are fighters, that's what we do. All of these snide comments are not my style, I dont get into that. I give much props to Bailey, he won that fight. I trained for one style, and he looked like a different fighter when he came out. Unfortunatly, I didn't adjust.
I make no excuses, we're fighters..thats what we do. For those who feel they need to run their mouths, have at it. I fight for the love of the sport. I will be better.
wass ssup juan, they already know what you can do in that ring, keep bringin it to em. you put years into what you do, and I've always known you to have heart and never back down. keep doin it big. from ya lil bro joe-joe, giant st.
i brlieve the last name is carrigan?????
Why such disregard for Wilson and Clatterbuck? For Palma and Terry Roy? Why do so many abandon the ship? The ones that do get threatened by a nasty foaming anon on this blog. Hmmm, it is surely a mystery.
hhhmmmmm it surely is, maybe the disregard is because they are all pieces of work!!! did you ever think about that?
I like them all, but I am probably someone's piece of work too.
Well maybe you are but if you knew these people and the things they do or have done you would know they have 0% of honor among them.(with the exception of wilson)
Understand.
People know and see people so differently, based on perception and what's invested, and don't let's forget about all the water that runs under that bridge. Not surprised at all about the word honor sharing the same sentence with Todd.
Peace out my friend.
