Good interview, seems like this will be a good show, and I like the monthly thing.

But Jeebus, $75 for the CHEAPEST tickets? That might be just a LITTLE bit out of my price range...I DO want to go to this though.

Oh, another thing. Just out of curiosity, who will the ring announcer be? If one's not chosen, I'd like to recommend "Discombobulating" Jones.

Henry Jones is, of course, the ring announcer for the Major Heavy Hitters monthly boxing show.

Monthly boxing show.
I don't think so.
Don't want to wish the promoters bad luck it's just hard to imagine
such a thing in this area.
I'm sure the promoters have optomistic intentions but nobody has been able to last promoting in DC much less every month.
Probobly the bigest obstacle was the commission but I think that theres been a change there so maybe things will work out for them.

Good fights! Arvin vs. Thompson and Johnson vs. LaCrete. Just based on those matchups I've got to go with Thompson and LaCrete to win those bouts. Hope the series works out, it can be a brutal business.

The schedule is August, September and October and then off for November and December for the holidays then back in January. It is an ambitious plan, but the promoters are ambitious. The first three shows will feature real title fights by top fighters as well as the best younger fighters that can be matched up in quality fights. The DC Commission is being very supportive of the series, and I have been receiving 5-10 contacts a day from fighters and managers across the country that want to be on the series. In addition, we have strong interest from television (several networks) and plans to stream the shows on the worldwide internet as well. The goal is to make the program an event that people will build their schedules around locally and come out to see the shows in an incredible venue, while at the same time getting the attention of folks around the world.

Chris, if I may make a small suggestion? Maybe lower prices for the cheap tickets ($40-50). Just my opinion, but $75's a bit on the high side.

How thoughtless of you guys! Cutting into ACW's bus money! LMAO!

Sounds like a great plan, hope it works out. It will only benefit boxing in DC and the Greater Beltway area.

Gary,

I will be covering the fight for secondsout.com and was wondering if you have the contact information for Major Heavy Hitters Promotions, so my editor can contact them for press credentials. If you could send it to my email, that would be great.

Thanks

Thank you Mr. Anonymous. Now all you need to do is prove your point. Name one fighter who was mistreated on one of my cards. Please, name one fighter who did not earn what was on his contract.
The truth is that the promoters pay the purses and the state commissions are there to ensure that the fighters get paid, if someone had money taken from them unfairly by me or by the promoter, that fighter could complain to the commission and certainly would be paid. And certainly if I had done anything wrong, somewhere in the thousands of fights that I have made, there would have been a fighter who complained to his local commission. So check the states that I work in and see whether there has ever been a complaint. You will find that there never has been one.

Anything the Club Ibiza puts on is first rate. $75 is not a lot of money for a first rate card in a first rate club. It is going to be SICK - THE BOMB! I can't wait.
