15Rounds.com is reporting that undefeated DC junior welterweight Lamont Peterson has an opponent for his important nationally televised Saturday, July 5 bout at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
Peterson's opponent will be Rogelio Castaneda, Jr. of Sacramento, California. Castaneda (24-13-3, eight KO's) has come very close to world title contention, losing an IBF title elimination bout to Demetrius Hopkins in November 2006.
It has been reported that should Peterson (24-0, 11 KO's) win, he will get a world title bout against the winner of the main event of this card -- the WBO Junior Welterweight championship rematch between champion Ricardo Torres and Kendall Holt.
The card will be televised by Showtime.

Come on Lamont! This is HUGE. Digital, how do you think Peterson matches up w/ Castaneda?
I see Peterson out-quicking Castaneda. All the fighters who have speed seem to do well against Castaneda. I think Lamont should win it.
A win over Castaneda will put Peterson in with the likes of Holt or Torres... that's a HUGE jump in class.
Lamont is one of the better boxer from this area in a long time.He shouldn't have a problem with him.
