DC junior welterweight Ty Barnett and Baltimore light heavyweight Willie "For Real" Williams will have what should be good competitive bouts this weekend.
On Friday, June 20, Barnett (13-0-1, nine KO's) will take on Pavel Miranda of Tijuana, MX (15-1, eight KO's) in a scheduled eight-round contest at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex in Georgetown, Cayman Islands. Barnett defeated veteran John Brown by six-round unanimous decision in his last outing on January 26 in Tunica, MS. Miranda scored an eight-round unanimous decision over William Gonzalez for the WBC Youth and the WBC Caribbean Boxing Federation Light Welterweight titles. No word yet on whether those belts will be on the line against Barnett.
On Saturday, June 21, Williams (10-2, two KO's) will be in an eight-round main event bout at the Campbell Fitness Center in Salem, NJ. Williams will take on 2001 National Golden Gloves Middleweight champ Alfred Kinsey of Atlantic City (6-2-1, three KO's). Williams has won his last four contests, including a six-round unanimous decision over Andre Hemphill on April 18 in Pikesville, MD. This will be Williams's first scheduled eight-round bout. Kinsey has been inactive since February of 2006 when he won an eight-round unanimous decision over Aneudi Santos, but he is unbeaten in his last seven bouts (6-0-1).
