The Ballroom Boxing card slated for Thursday, May 29 at Michael's Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie, MD is starting to fill out. Here are some bouts that have been added to the card.
The "rematch" between heavyweights "The People's Champion" Jonathan Felton of Stafford, VA and Baltimore's Askia Snyder will be on this card in another four-round bout. Back on January 31 at Michael's, the two men made national press when they brawled before the bell even rang. Felton comes in with a record of 5-9, five KO's. Snyder was making his pro debut on the January 31 card and has one no contest on his record.
Brandywine, MD heavyweight Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell (2-0-1, one KO) makes his Ballroom Boxing debut as he faces Alexis Cruz Medina (0-3-1) of Science Hill, KY in a four-round matchup.
Glen Burnie heavyweight Danny Kisner (1-0, one KO) returns to ring action as he takes on debuting Kevin Johnson of Baltimore.
Baltimore junior middleweight Cecil McCalla makes his pro debut against "The Capitol Punisher" Spencer Harsley of DC (1-6-2). Also middleweight Shelly Seivert of Severna Park, MD (2-1, one KO) will make her Ballroom debut against an opponent to be named.
In the six-round co-feature, undefeated super featherweight Carney "Beeper" Bowman of York, PA (9-0, four KO's) returns to the Ballroom to take on New York's Edward Valdez (3-5-2, two KO's). Also, undefeated Denver, CO's Terrence Crawford (2-0, two KO's) will return against an opponent to be announced.
The main event for this card remains the same: Undefeated Pasadena, MD super middleweight Mike "The Persecutor" Paschall (16-0-1, four KO's) steps up in competition against former world title contender Larry "The Laser" Marks of New Castle, DE (29-9-1, 16 KO's) in a bout that will be scheduled for either eight or 10 rounds.
I will have a detailed preview on this card this weekend.
Welcome to sucksville! Other than Pascall vs Marks, looks like a bad card.
ReplyDeleteIt will be better than jakes next show.
ReplyDeleteHey big G! Just informing u and your readers, that we have 2 beltway amatures ranked @ #1 there for they didn't have to fight in the locals or regionls, they are on the silvergloves team,, mrcus gaddis and antonio magruder.... they will also repressent the beltway @ the national silvergloves... just thought you might wanna post that, because they are both ranked #1.... representing for the beltway, and u no antonio magruder won a bronze medal at the nationals last yr..
ReplyDeleteAskia vs. Felton- The rematch of the fight before the fight!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat will be worth the price of admission. Felton will put some major hurt on Askia.
You want to call me a clueless asshole and you want me to pay for this garbage? Let's see:
ReplyDeletePascall vs. Marks - good fight. Won't be a a real crowd pleaser but it will be a good boxing match between two skilled fighters.
Felton vs. Snyder - well I guess that may be interesting considering what happened last time.
Mitchell vs. a guy from Kentucky. That's about a 45 second fight. I'll go out on a limb and make the over/under on that "fight" 47 1/2 seconds with over paying 2 to 1.
Old man Kisner vs. a pro debut guy. Gee, I wonder who's going to win?
Another pro debut against "The Punished One" Spencer Harsley. Isn't Jaime Palma "The Punisher". He sucks too.
Bowman as an undefeated fighter against a guy with a bad record. Wow, how exciting.
Plus we've got a couple of chicks and another guy from out of town. I can't wait.
Just like I said, welcome to friggin' SUCKSVILLE! And you've got the nerve to call me a clueless asshole. You pay money for this and you're the asshole, asshole!
Sucksville is going strong and there will be plenty of happy fans who are bringing big fat wallets to see the consistent good show that Scott Wagner puts on at the Ballroom. Lots of action there hater. Please keep your dreary ass at home.

Good Luck to all of you...
Wow. It is a hard audience to please on this blog.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what people want if they are so sure that this is a bad card.
Paschall is stepping up to his biggest fight against a world class fighter in Larry Marks. That fight alone, for any fan of Beltway Boxing should be of real interest. Have we seen many fights were 16-0 local fighters have taken this stort of step up? I would think that people would all be out there cheering him on.
Askia Schneider and Jonathan Felton- is there more of a fun fight/grudge match that any promoter has put on in this area in the last five years? And its just a four rounder. What a blast. Are you all complaining about this ?
Kisner and Kevin Johnson- four rounder of heavyweights who do not get along. We are not asking you to sit through some 8 round snooze fest or see some local kid beat up on some opponent from Ohio. This should be an entertaining fight. And for goodness sake it is just another four rounder.
Seth Mitchell and Alexis De La Cruz- Oh, our wise critics say Seth will starch this guy in 46 seconds beccause Cruz is 0-3-1. Well, if he does that would be something good for Seth, because Cruz has gone the distance in each of his fights. I just wanted to get Seth someone that might be a little more durable than the last guy he fought locally whose record was 1-4, but has been knocked out now four times in the first round and once in the second round. So you want to complain about Cruz. Lets wait and see how Seth handles him. And lets give Mitchell a break with only 10 amateur fights, he is a work in progress and will be for sometime. But he is a terific athlete and he will be fun to watch develop.
Bowman and Valdez- Bowman has fought here a couple of times and is an exciting fighter to watch and the crowd likes him, Valdez' opponents in his 10 fights have a combined record of 36 -6. Bowman will be his 6th undefeated fighter.
In his last few fights he has gone the distance with Matt Remillard who is WBC Youth Champion and still undefeated, he lost a split decision to the 8-0 Anonio Espinosa, had a draw with Danny McDermott and Verquan Kimbrough (who was 9-0 then and is now 21-1), and beat Lorezo Bethea who was 5-1. So he may have a losing record, but this is the type of fighter that if had had a manager looking out for him could easily have a winning record. He is no slouch and is without doubt Bowmans toughest opponent. This is a good fight and definitely no walk in the park for Bowman.
The card will also feature Shelley Seivert and Terrance Crawford. Crawford fought on the last card and was national amateur champion and is a brutal knock out type of fighter. He is the type of fighter that fights a few times at the Ballroom and then you will see him on espn or shobox.
So drop the negativity and come out and enjoy the show. It should be a good one and an entertaining one.

Boxing fans are not just born every minute.
SOME are just among the happy ones at the Ballroom next weekend!
Go rain on your own parade, You DO have one right?
We would all gladly come to yours, because....
because....
because...
You would never throw darts if you couldn't do it better. So, us suckers want to be in line for your BETTER Show.
It's an okay show. Marks vs. Paschall will be a distance fight. I don't expect it to be a knockdown dragout type of affair but a real chess match. The other fights are okay. I've got my calendar marked but don't have my tickets yet. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteThere needs to be more promoters in this area.To make this local boxing scene stronger.
ReplyDeleteThen promote!!!!
ReplyDeletehow come some of these local guys cant get on the ballroom show i go to the fights in Va. why dont we see Anrew farmer and Bayan Jargnal on these ballroom shows does the promoter not want to see good fights.
ReplyDeleteActually, Jargal has fought in the Ballroom (May 31, 2007) and that's where the only blemish on his record took place. He fought Jaime Rodriguez to a four-round draw.
ReplyDeletewhen you come to ballroom, you really have to fight the real live fighters. Most of local fighters avoid fighting at ballroom (Thomas Snow for example)
ReplyDeleteplease keep posts to a 3 para minimum. all posts 4 paras and over suck!
ReplyDeletePlease allow me to set the parameters on length of posts. If you don't like the length, don't read it!

ReplyDeleteBallroom cards are always entertaining. Like this card, looking forward to the main event. For the price and the size of the ballroom, Wagner and Middendorf always give us good cards.
Boxing fans in this area are spoiled we have a great blog here and live fight cards every month, yet many complain. How bout showing up, paying admission, making those involved some money so they can bankroll better cards and bigger names? Love these local cards!
why do i have the feeling that the hater is some local wash up or local wanna be with a padded record?
ReplyDeleteGOOD LUCK MIKE
ReplyDeleteMO BETTER
