This late congratulatory note from the recent National Golden Gloves in Grand Rapids, Michigan:

DC's Kevin Rivers was awarded the Outstanding Sportsmanship Award at the competition for his weight class (119 pounds). Rivers reached the semifinals of the event. Working with Rivers in his corner were Beltway legend Andrew Council and Robert Matney, the president of the Virginia Association of USA Boxing LBC #12.

Benard Roach seems to be heading to Coach of the year award for
2008. He actually won it for 2006 and 2007.

Hey bd or Big Damon, I'm guessing :)

Who else is on your squad?

I was at the Regional JO's and I really felt like it was close. When I saw video later, I thought Damon won. Congrats and good luck.

We need to get some Philly-DC boxing events going because we both have a lot of good boxers.

I may be little late for this but better late than never. It was an honor to work with the young MR. KEVIN RIVERS at the National Golden Gloves. DC could not have been represented any better. Along with his coach Andrew Council, they are truly a class act to be watched for in the future.
