'Ding-A-Ling Man' Looks for Revenge Against Purlette Feb. 8 in Delaware!

USBA Cruiserweight champion Darnell "The Ding-A-Ling Man" Wilson will be looking for a little bit of retribution as he continues his quest for a world title shot.

Wilson (22-5-3, 19 KO's) is slated to take on Andre Purlette of Miami, FL on Friday, February 8 at Dover Downs Hotel and Casino in Dover DE. This is a rematch of a bout that took place on June 30, 2006 in Hollywood, FL in which Wilson lost a close, six-round unanimous decision. All three judges scored the bout 57-56 for Purlette.

Wilson has won four straight since that bout. Purlette (40-2, 35 KO's) has also won five in a row, but has been somewhat inactive, stretching those five wins over a four-year period.

Don't mean to steal your thunder Darnell. You're the deadliest puncher in the game and I'm confident that you'll beat Purlette this time around.

Does anyone know who's managing Dean White and or how to get in touch with him?

Thanks,

Kris Bishop

Am I missing something? I'd understand fighting a 34-year-old fringe contender such as Purlette if a) Darnell was clocking a HEALTHY paycheck or b) the fight was televised -- but with neither being the case -- i just don't see what Darnell has to gain in this fight. However... he has everything to lose. Darnell's stock has never been higher.
Why wouldn't he just take a stay-busy fight on a local card and wait for the bigger sharks to bite? I have all the respect in the world for Darnell... but i just don't understand this decision.
Best of luck regardless Darnell.

Enlightened One,

ESPN is picking this fight up. Not sure about the paycheck on this one, but I know Darnell fought this guy while going through some issues with his adrenal glands and he took the fight really short notice. I know he wants some get back, so why not Purlette? The other champs aren't biting and this is a chance for revenge and another step up in the rankings. Good opportunity for him to stay busy and get himself into a mandatory slot.

Ding-a-ling's not getting any other major matches. He's gotta keep busy and stay in the public's eye.

Purlette seems a sensible opponent. He has a history of blowing it when it counts.

I can promise you that Dean white is not managed by Lionel Royer.
Royer was one of his cornermen for a while but Dean got tired of Lionel embarressing him in the corner when he jumped around like a monkey on a string while he was trying to give Dean instructions.
I think Scott Farmer got Dean on as the main event at fight night
but I'm not sure.Try getting in touch with Farmer or The matchmaker
for fight night .
His name was Erric Botcher
