Corrales Benefit Card Raises $5,170!

The October 6 benefit card at the Hilton McLean Tyson's Corner in McLean, VA that was co-promoted by Jimmy Lange Enterprises and Jackie Kallen's Ice Promotions raised $5,170 for the family of the late world champion Diego "Chico" Corrales.

I’m truly proud that we raised more than $5,000 to help Diego Corrales’ family,” said Lange of the program that combined entertainment and philanthropy with a live boxing card. “My fans have been extremely loyal and generous in support of everything I do. I’m extremely grateful for everyone that helped organize and participate in the event. I want to personally thank Gary Shaw, Chico’s promoter, who was instrumental in putting us in touch with Michelle (Diego’s wife) and her children. We hope our small token of appreciation helps the family during the holiday season.”

Lange is slated to defend his WBC Continental Americas Junior Middleweight title on Saturday, March 29 at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA against an opponent to be determined.

I heard over $300,000 was raised for Corrales benefit show in VA. Where did rest of the money go?

There weren't enough people nor auction items to raise $300,000. I don't know where you got that info from, but someone is lying to you.

It was a great night and Jimmy and his staff should be commended, not vilified for it.

Listen, let me tell you guys something, the Hilton Ballroom costs so much to rent the figure would make most your your toes curl! Plus the dinner, band, fights, etc - there was some BIG money (as in 6 figures) spent on that show. As hard as some of you may find this to believe, the show LOST money! So the Langes' dug in to their own pockets and gave money to the family of Diego. You people have to stoping hating so much on them. So what you will, the Patriot Center shows are what sparked the rest of the activity in Virginia! If it weren't for Jimmy Lange and his father, VA would be doing 5 shows a YEAR just like the old days!

Joe Hensley-did 2 shows
Han Kim-4 shows
Scott Farmer-4 shows
some guy name Lionel- maybe 2-3 shows
Thats 12-13 shows even without Langes. Virginia is doing OK, with them two or not.

Instead of saying Va only did 5 shows say it only did 5 shows that you know about. You don't know about the beach shows or the martinsville/danville or richmond shows.

that might be enough money to repair the Ducati diego crashed on. Then his wife could sell it and really have some cash

HMMMM - I bet I know who that last comment came from. How about a cruiserweight from the Beltway who has a fondness for motorcycles. HMMMM!

Boy Jonny really has you people fooled. Bravo!

hey linda... kudos doesnt have an apostrophe... is what I learnt from George Carlin's book...

I can't wait to do my own benefit show for the Lange Family... I sure could use a couple grand...

There is no such thing or word as kudo. Kudos is a singular noun meaning praise, and it is pronounced kyoo-dose. There is also a plural form, spelled the same, but pronounced kyoo-doze. Please stop telling me, "So-and-so picked up another kudo today."

Yeah, he rules with his crude comments. Real nice mouth on you BoxBible. Nice example for the young amateur boxers or other young people that read this blog. Of course you're not the only one that curses but that comment was way off base.
