It's official: Darnell "The Ding-A-Ling Man" Wilson will not get a world title shot against WBO Cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli.
Reports are that Wilson is being passed over in favor of a boxer who, apparently is also from DC, although he has never fought in the area before.
His name is Ezra Sellers, he is 37-years old, and he has had two previous world title shots, losing to former champs Kelvin Davis and Johnny Nelson. Back in 2004, Sellers also lost a IBF elimination bout to former champ O'Neil Bell.
Sellers's biggest win was back in November 2001 when he stopped Carl Thompson in the fourth round for the IBO Cruiserweight title.
The Sellers-Maccarinelli bout will be Saturday, November 3 in Cardiff, Wales on the Joe Calzaghe-Mikkel Kessler card.

You know this must be the hazing "must have" trademark of Beltway Boxers... You are nobody until somebody with a championship belt disses and overtly sidesteps you by fighting EVERY bum until the supply is exhausted, and finally...finally they have no other recourse or avenue to avoid FACING...

No diss to Sellers, but come on now.
Can you feel the disdain in Digital's writing? -- J.S.
Don't Ezra Sellers have grandkids?
Ezra Sellers has one fight in three years against a bum and he gets a title shot? Ezra is seriously damaged goods. I feel sorry for the fans that have to sit through a miserable undercard to get to Calzaghe - Kessler. Darnell has the best four fight resume of any contender right now, give the man his shot.
Kudos to Warren... he couldn't have gotten a better stiff if he'd gone and raided the "Black Park" in London... (that's where they piled up all the dead bodies from the Plague way back when)
