Goossen-Tutor Signs William Joppy; New Promotions Group Opens in Beltway!

BoxingTalk.com is reporting that former two-time WBA Middleweight champion William Joppy has signed a promotional deal with Goossen Tutor Promotions of California. No formal announcement from Gossen Tutor head Dan Goossen yet but that should come later today.

Goossen Tutor also promotes the WBO's number one heavyweight contender Tony Thompson.

By the way, there is a new promotional company here along the Beltway. No word yet on it's name but the company will be led by long-time trainer Asim Hanif and boxer Joe Haggler. Hanif says the goal is to promote their first boxing card before the end of this year. More details on this as it becomes available.

UPDATE: The company will be called AfterShock Events and they will have their first card on Saturday, December 15 at the All Star Legacy Gym in Ashburn, VA.

Check with Team Thompson, but I do not think that Tony is promoted by Goosen Tudor.

If you go to www.goossentutor.com, Tony is on the website as one of their boxers.

Gary are they going to be signing fighters from this area or just Joppy.

Gary- You should know better than to trust what promoters put on their websites or for that matter whatever is written on the internet!
Please. Give us a break. Call Team Thompson and ask them if they are free agents before you parrot a promoters website.

First of all, I mentioned where the source of the item was concerning Joppy. If it ends up being wrong, then I will gladly say so.

Number two, Thompson has been PROMOTED by Goossen Tutor for at least two years. That IS a fact! The last few fights Thompson has had, Goossen Tutor has been at least a part of the promotion that Tony has fought on.

As far as Goossen Tutor signing other boxers from the area, that remains to be seen. I am unaware of any other signings at this time.

I held my own sparring Joppy he is very "talented" anytime I have the chance to work with him its a blessing. It was working with William that inspired me that I can get in there and pick apart anyone. Joppy fears no man he has always proven to be a true Champion and the sport of Boxing,is Blessed to have him.

Gary, Joppy has signed with Goosen-Tutor he will be fighting November 16th in St. Lucia Islands and no he is not a shot fighter incase your hater does not realize Joppy is two time world champion he has 35-4 record losing to Julio caesar Green, who he came back and beat twice, lost to Felix Trinadad who had the controversal hand wraps that night and when Trinadad fought Hopkins he made Tito rewrap and got Knocked out, he lost to Bernard Hopkins, and Jermain Taylor. Give the man credit not one was a c or d fighter, thats why we will never have another big name fighter here because locals can't get fan support. I hope the Petersons and Gary Russell get support in the future we are never together Metro area that is so sorry.
