It looks like Tony "The Tiger" Thompson's opponent for Thursday, Sept. 27 is just about set. Barring any last-minute changes, Thompson (30-1, 18 KO's) will face Cliff "Twin Tyson" Couser of St. Louis, MO at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, CA.
Couser (26-12-2, 14 KO's) is coming off one of the bigger wins of his career when he stopped Monte Barrett in the second round on July 7 in Bridgeport, CT. Couser has faced the likes of former world champion Michael Moorer and former contenders Lance "Mount" Whitaker, Jorge Luis Gonzalez and Clifford Etienne during his career.
So Digital, correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems like an opponent that Tiger should beat but one who should also provide a good challenge to him.
ReplyDeleteACW, The opponent you are talking about is thinking that Tiger is the opponent and is planning on taming the tiger. I would not treat this guy lightly! I do think that Tom Browner=Tony's trainer will do as he always does and have Tony in tip top shape. Tom Browner has been around forever and knows the game well. Godd Luck Tony...
ReplyDeleteTalk to you later ACE. Have a great day...
ACW, you are right. Couser usually gives guys good work but every time he has stepped up in competition, he has lost.
ReplyDeleteHe's a good opponent for Tony, though. Couser will give him some good work.
Tony will get him out of there in under 5 rounds but yes, he'll get a little work.
ReplyDeleteThat's what Monte Barrett thought too. He thought he'd get a little work. He got a LOT of work plus overtime AND worker's comp! Monte is not near as good as Tony and I think Tony won't sleep on this guy. I want Tony to unify the titles so bad because I know he can do it!
ReplyDeletehere is a great link of how he handles a southpaw in michael moorer
