Joppy Bout on August 24 Postponed!

Former two-time WBA Middleweight champion William Joppy was scheduled to fight on Friday, August 24 in Binghamton, NY. However, the bout has been postponed until September 7.

Joppy's scheduled opponent, Emilio Cayetano of the Dominican Republic, has visa problems and that, coupled with the cancellation of another high-profile bout on the card, forced promoter Cedric Kushner to postpone the card.

I see they got an undefeated guy for Joppy. He could go all the way back to the top under Mike Acri ,he did that with Duran and Camacho after their good years.

I agree, Joppy made a great decision by going to Mike Acri. From all accounts Acri is a class act and he alone will take Joppy back to the top of the ranking and eventually a title shot. Joppy now needs to make some noise in his own area erasing the no fan show fight in DC several months back.

Good Luck Joppy!

What is your take Digital?

Joppy days are numbered he was buckled by a bum in Richy mccomb & Larry brothers.

Conditioning is the key to getting past bums. When someone is fighting the likes of the lower level boxers they tend not to be prepared mentally and physically! He will be fine when the time comes.

I don't know about McCombs but Larry Brothers, despite his record, is a powerful dude. You shouldn't be calling the man a bum, he's fought a bunch of very good fighters in his career and he's never laid down for any of them.

Mccombs sparred both joppy & brothers when brother could only go two rounds that bum. as for Joppy he was hurt in the second after a long feeling out process of the first with a bum in Mccombs.

Why do people look to start trouble here? I see my name is out here once again for the record William Joppy and I did spar it went three good rounds we both had our moments. I have lot's of love and respect for joppy he's one of the best. As for the comment regarding me being a bum anyone who question my ability as of 2007 I am in need of some new heavybags.

As for the comment regarding me and Larry brother he and I are spiritual brothers. I worked with him a few times and larry can rumble I have never disrespected any fighter and Larry isn't an exception.

Gary I truly feel that information would put a end to all these rude Anonymous post.

Bum is a boxing term for individual boxers with below sub-par boxing records who continue to box professionally for the money and love of the sport.

Although, the term Bum was used by the third blog, I the fourth blog only wrote only in jest and was not used to disrespect any fighter. Any fighter that gets in the ring regardless if they win or lose.

As a fighter Mr. McCombs, you have to have tough skin. Keep training and garner a good record and people will follow your thoughts as well.

Again, Best of luck to Joppy!

Bum is a bad word in boxing, and I for one think it is an offensive term to any boxer - whether he's 20 and 0 or 0 and 20. It takes a lot of guts to get in to that ring and just by doing that alone precludes them from being a bum. It doesn't mean they are a good boxer, but say that. Don't call them bums!

Puffy,

I am very disappointed in you. My son came up to you at the fights, and you took his soft pretzel and drink He wanted to meet his idol and you were very rude. Next time we will go see Jay Z!

They are just funnin' with you Richard. Don't think any harm is meant. Kind of cool to be confused with Puffy! I smile every
time I see those posts. You need to wear a white suit and some nice shades and come to one of the shows and just roll!

Richard McCombs is Puffy...

First, win a fight.

Leave him alone. At least he signs his name, that really makes him a much bigger person that you. Sign yours and stop posing.

I'm 1-2-1ko as a professional fighter. I appreciate your support Linda I love the crazed fans especially those with NO! names...

Here we go with the politically correct crap again... don't call anyone a bum... it might hurt their feelings... it might offend them... we must be nice to dogs... blah, blah, blah... if you're 0-20, you're a bum, period.

McCombs is 1-2 so calling him a bum may be a bit premature. Politically correct guys are the real bums.

And why do non-boxers keep insisting that "it takes guts to get in the ring"? If you're inclined to slipping punches easily or not being too bothered by getting hit, it doesn't take much guts at all. A lot of bum dogs get in the ring. Andre Dirrell comes immediately to mind.

Well let me remix it to your parameters boxingbible... Perhaps, it doesn't take guts to step in the ring, I guess I should say I respect anyone who steps in the ring. This nonboxer doesn't really have a problem with criticism of a boxers record or style or performance, but this blog often gets innundated (probably by just a couple/few people) with downright "kicking and kicking the dog while it's down". I don't like it. Don't think it's necessary, and that doesn't mean that how I feel or think is as you so indelicately put it "Crap".

Linda, you are a bit of a Pollyanna ; ) but I for one, think you're great. You're an obvious fan and that's great. However, don't be too put off by the gruffer and unsympathetic anonymous bloggers on here. Boxing is a tough sport... for tough guys. I'm a fighter and all of us put ourselves out there to be criticized and praised. We can take it. Believe me. That said, keep on sticking up for us.
