Breaking News: Thompson in WBO Heavyweight Eliminator July 14!

What many of you have alluded to is now a reality. DC heavyweight and NABO and WBC Continental Americas Heavyweight champion Tony "The Tiger" Thompson has signed to fight Luan Krasniqi in a WBO Elimination match on July 14 in Germany. The winner of this bout will be the mandatory challenger to the winner of the June 2 WBO title bout between champion Shannon Briggs and challenger Sultan Ibragimov.

Because of this development, Thompson, who is ranked third in the world by the WBO, will NOT appear on the May 25th ESPN2 card at the DC Armory.

The May 25th card WILL go on as scheduled with the undefeated Peterson Brothers headlining a show in DC together for the very first time. Opponents are still being lined up for the Petersons.

Three audio interviews are available for you:

First, Tony Thompson talks more about the upcoming bout with Luan Krasniqi.

Anthony and Lamont Peterson talk about being able to fight in their hometown for the first time in a long time. First Anthony:

That's great news. However Thompson is in for a tough fight against Krasniqi since the fight will be in Germany. Germany if infamous for unfair judging as many boxing fans know. Kraniqi also has momentum from his unanimous decision win against Brian Minto.

What can they do to facilitate unbias judging? All the judges should come from different countries and one from the United States.. One from Europe and One from South America should be written into the contract? Is it written like that Thompson camp?

I would hate to see him come this far and not get a fair shot..They called him the Cinderella Man on Channel 7 news.

I'm glad Tiger got that bout, but I would've liked to see him. It'll be cool to see the Petersons though (and they're headlining that card?).
