ESPN.com's Dan Rafael is reporting that former two-time heavyweight champion Hasim "The Rock" Rahman will return to the ring in a nationally televised bout on June 14 against former WBO Heavyweight champ "Merciless" Ray Mercer.
This bout was scheduled to headline a card in Morgantown, WVA on February 22 (the same card Dean White participated on), but Rahman backed out of the bout -- Rafael says -- because of family issues. The bout will be the headliner on a future "Fight Night" on the Versus Network.
No venue has been announced yet, but Rahman's co-manager Steve Nelson told Rafael that the bout may end up in Nelson's hometown of Rochester, NY. The bout with Mercer became a possibility again because proposed bouts with Lamon Brewster and Luan Krasniqi did not pan out.
