Bouloubassis Knockout Sets Records!

Those of you who were in attendance at the Pikesville National Guard Armory on March 10 witnessed a little bit of history.

According to Boxrec.com, the stunning 15 second knockout by "The Golden Greek" Elias Bouloubassis over Vincent Robbins has been listed as the fastest knockout ever in the super middleweight division. The knockout beat the previous record set by Allen Green over Jaidon Codrington in November 2005. Green knocked out Codrington in 18 seconds. The Bouloubassis knockout was also the 13th fastest knockout in any division of all time.

The knockout was not, however, the fastest knockout in the state of Maryland. That honor goes to Steve Griffin, who knocked out James Thompson in 14 seconds at the Teamsters Hall in Baltimore on September 7, 2000.

  14. The Greek will go just about as far as Big Steve Griffin. Steve proved that one punch does not a career make. So there will be a few more stiffs for the Greek to knock out, but if the man wins a few more, the state will require him to fight a real living and breathing fighter and then that will be it. So enjoy it while you can.

  15. "if you won't good seats" What sort of language is that? It must be that forked tongue that the snake has.

  17. I was at that Steve Griffin fight at Teamsters Hall, when he recorded the fastest knockout ever in a Maryland ring. If looks could kill, the fight never even would have taken place; Griffin just looked like a hugely muscled beast, and his punches sent his opponent literally flying around the ring. Unfortunately, Griffin lost his next two fights by KO to undefeated guys and that was that. Last I remember him, he was on the canvas at Michael's 8th Avenue SCREAMING in pain after breaking his ankle or something against Jed Phipps. Don't think the big fella has fought since then. -- John Scheinman

  19. I have experienced firsthand the awesome power of the Golden Greek. He knocked me out with a Batman action figure in 2 seconds flat during our match of 1982 :)

  22. John--Steve Griffin a "muscled beast" I dont know what steve you saw. I saw a 300 pound fat boy, not no "muscled beast", and he knocked out Thompson with the first punch. He did pack a big punch though. Are you sure you saw this fight. Griffin fought all undefeated fighters, and broke his ankle when Jed dropped him in the 2nd fight. you are correct on that.
