The full card has been announced for the Thursday, March 8 Ballroom Boxing card at Michael's Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie, MD.
Undefeated Baltimore featherweight Tyrell "Da Show Shock A" Samuel will headline the show as he battles in his first scheduled eight-round contest taking on Philip "Bring The" Payne of St. Louis, MO.
Samuel (9-0, five KO's) is coming off a six-round unanimous decision win over Jorge Lara on February 17 at Suitland Senior High School. The 24-year old Samuel will make a big jump in competition by facing the veteran Payne (16-21-1, eight KO's). Payne has lost his last eight, but the majority of those eight losses came against top-flight competition including current WBO Super Bantamweight champion Daniel Ponce De Leon, former WBA Featherweight champion Derrick Gainer and top contender Al Seeger. In his last outing, the 36-year-old Payne lost an eight-round unanimous decision to undefeated Billy Dib on December 2, 2006 in Tampa, FL.
Lara, who fights out of The Bronx, NY, will be on this Ballroom Boxing card facing DC super featherweight Ron "Teflon" Boyd in a six-round encounter. This will be Lara's third straight bout in Maryland. Prior to the loss to Samuel, Lara (3-2-1) fought James Franks to a draw on November 9, 2006 in Glen Burnie.
Since losing his pro debut, Boyd (4-1, one KO) has won four in a row. Boyd looked sharp, winning a four-round unanimous decision over Corey Goodwin on the February 17 Suitland card in his last appearance. This bout is Boyd's second scheduled six-rounder but he has never gone past four rounds in his career.
In four-round bouts, long--time Baltimore-area trainer Danny Kisner will make his pro debut against South Carolina's Derrick Martin (1-1, one KO). Martin is making his first appearance in 2007, coming off a second-round TKO loss to Glenn Williams on December 7 in Pikesville, MD.
Also, this card will mark the return of "Irish" Carson McCourry of Baltimore. McCourry (8-2, five KO's) returns to the ring after a 12 year absence. Now fighting as a cruiserweight, McCourry will take on Fort Smith, AR's Clinton Bonds (4-7, two KO's). Bonds is coming off a four-round unanimous decision win over Mitch Hicks on January 20 in Fort Smith.
In another cruiserweight contest,undefeated La Plata, MD's Nick Caroleo will take on Reuel Williams of Wilmington, DE in a four-round matchup. Caroleo (3-0, two KO's) fights for the first time in 2007, coming off a second-round TKO over Robert Evans on December 7 in Pikesville. Williams (3-1, one KO)also fought on that December 7 Pikesville card and he scored a first-round knockout over Henry Mayes.
In other bouts on the card, Beltway-area heavyweights "Big" Phill Brown of Upper Marlboro, MD and "The People's Champion" Jonathan Felton will meet in a six-round rematch. The first time these two fought, Brown won by four-round unanimous decision in his pro debut on June 21, 2006 at Martin's West in Woodlawn, MD.
Since that time, the 6'7" Brown has remained undefeated (4-0, one KO), scoring his last victory by third-round disqualification over Donnell Chivers on February 17 in Suitland, MD.
Felton (3-6, three KO's) alternated wins and losses in February, scoring a first-round KO over Alonzo Cutchins on February 3 in Fisherville, VA and losing a four-round unanimous decision to Fredrick Kassi on February 23 in Scranton, PA (the same card where Darnell Wilson defeated Kelvin Davis).
Undefeated Columbus, OH cruiserweight Eric Asher will take on veteran William Gill of Toms River, NJ in a six-round contest. Asher (4-0, two KO's) scored a second-round TKO over Jeff Baker on June 30, 2006 in Indianapolis. Baker came into the bout with a record of 14-1 but Asher knocked him down four times en route to the victory. Gill (6-15, five KO's) scored a stunning first-round TKO over former Olympian Dante Craig on December 15, 2006 but has lost two straight since that bout including an eight-round unanimous decision to Marcus Johnson on February 3 in Kissimmee, FL.
Ballroom Boxing promoter Scott Wagner has invited numerous wounded veterans from Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital to attend the card. Wagner will be providing transportation for the veterans to and from the hospital.

Sounds like another great Ballroom card put together by Scott Wagner and Chriss Middendorf. Samuel looks like the real deal and is fun to watch but don't be fooled by Payne's record the dude can fight and he has sprung an upset or two. I like Samuel in a competitive fight until it ends with Tyrell's hand being raised. Baltimore's Nick Caroleo against Reuel Williams should be another good one. Williams looked good in his wins over Evans and Mohammed but looked sensational blowing out Hurricane Henry Mayes in 1 round. Nick has a good following and comes to fight but his opposition has been limited. He fought Evans on even terms after Williams outclassed Evans. I am not sold on Nick's ability and think he is limited and has been protected up to this point. Apperently team Caroleo has decided it is time to stop babying Nick and I think they chose the wrong guy to step up against, BIG TIME! Look for Nick's 0 to go in dramatic fashion as Williams rises to 4-1 (2 KO's). Asher versus Gill is another one that the records may suggest a mismatch on paper but don't be decieved. William Gill is one of the better "bad record" fighters you will see and his KO over Craig proves that. I haven't seen Asher yet but if his record is inflated against soft opposition look for Gill to win the fight. If Asher is the real deal expect him to win a decision. Since I am not too familiar with Asher I will pass on a prediction and just enjoy the fight. Great job Digital and keep supporting the Beltway, your coverage has been great!
Nick Caroleo is fighting an absolute knock out artist. The guy has knoced out 82 out of 124 amature fights. Nick goes out within 30 seconds of first round.
I would be willing to bet that Nick Careleo pulls out of this fight.
We are very fortunate around the Beltway because there will be two outstanding cards this week!

Keep in mind that Caroleo's opponent was knocked out in the second round by Walter Coles (1-4). Coles does not train AT ALL and is not a very big puncher and he knocked out Williams COLD. So before you write off Nick, lets see what happens when he touches Williams on the chin. It will be good night Mr. Williams!!!!
PJ Augustine promoted that show back in 2004 and Jose Medina looked sensational in the main event. Regardin Williams, you have twisted the facts, or figure by looking someone up on boxrec is like watching the fight. Williams knocked Coles down twice in round one, the fight very easily could have been stopped. In round two Coles was hurt again and Williams injured a shoulder during a follow up barrage and retreated to the ropes. While on the ropes Coles swarmed him and Williams was unable to throw back. The fight was stopped with Williams ON HIS FEET, a TKO via referee stoppage, which is not exactly the same as "being hit square on the chin" and "out cold". I just hope to see a good fight but do not think that is gonna happen. I have seen both guys. Nick is too wild and will be countered to no end by a sharpshooter. By the way Williams is MUCH better now than he was in 2004. I doubt Nick is much better now than he was in December in Pikesville.

I spoke to him yesterday via phone and he told me to bet the house that Nick will not be standing within 45 seconds of the very first round.
I bet he last one round. I will bet the house on that. He might not win but he will last 1round
Let's correct the situation with the Coles vs. Williams fight. Coles was down in the first, but he knocked Williams out in the second. Williams was not on his feet being tko'd. The fight was a KO not a TKO. And the reason that it was a KO was because Coles knocked him the f*** out! Williams has no chin. If Nicky hits him, it is over, OVER! If Nicky does not hit him then we will have a fight that should be fun to watch. God bless boxing!!!!!!!
Once again your recollections of that 9-11-04 card are incorrect. Trust me I sometimes match shows and aquire tapes from as many shows as I can get, including club shows. PJ Augastine always used to tape his shows. I was surprised that Jose Medina looked awesome that night, like 150 pound young Tyson in destroynig Cintron in pure savagery. Max Alexander clearly earned the decision over Cameron Bright but was in a tougher battle than expected and Steven Ham beat the living daylights out of Mike McFail but could not KO him no matter what. The Williams - Coles fight appeared to be a totally one sided fight. Every time Williams hit Coles, Walter looked ready to go. The 2 1st round knockdowns were emphatic with Coles barely survivng each. In round 2 it was more of the same with Coles wobbled early and often until Williams appeared to injure his arm. The bout was absolutely stopped by the referee with Williams against the ropes, on his feet, and unable to throw back. He was not remotely "knocked the f*** out" as you state. The fight was stopped with him standing in his corner and on his feet. A big difference than your recollection. I would be more than happy to send you the tape. I can absolutely care less who wins and hope to see a good fight. I just, in my humble opinion, see no way Caroleo wins. Nick will come forward, winging punches and no doubt trying extremely hard, but he will quickly realize that he is out of his league as far as talent goes. Nick will try but I think he will be right there in range to be hit and pay a severe, abrupt and brutal price. Williams by 2nd round KO is my call in a completely one sided affair. Also in the Samuel fight let's see what Philip Payne shows up. Despite his record Payne has beaten the highly regarded Debind Thapa (17-1) , Al Seeger (19-0) and Carlos Diaz (8-0-2) and lost close split decisions to Derrick Smoke Gainer and David Donis. I think Samuel is the real deal and expect him to win via decision but if he were able to stop Payne it would be a nice statement.
Nick it training very hard for this fight. He has not smoked any
chemicals in over two weeks. He has been jogging at least twice a week. Ans he is laying off the sweets. Nick will be a different fighter this time around. Yes I know he gets knocked out, but he will still be better than most expect.
Not having seen the infamous 9/11/04 fight, the only thing that I can say is that it is listed as a KO in the record books. If the fight was waved off because of a problem with a fighters arm, it would be a TKO.
The one thing that I do know is the way Coles trains: he does not. If he has a fight, ie; needs some money, he will run the few days or at most the week before. No gym work, no mitt work, no sparring. Depending on the weight limit, he may reduce his liquor intake, or if it is a high weight, he may work out his right arm downing the shots. That being said, his only win was the KO of whats his name. So does that make Caroleo a live underdog, it would seem so.
Good point about Coles training habits. Walter could have done better if he had trained. Not to get in a hissing match I looked on boxrec and it is incorrectly listed as a KO, it was TKO. I love Boxrec just like the next guy but with results of over 1 million fights they are not 100% accurate. Let's hope for a good fight, I am sure it will be a great card as Wagner and Middendorf usually deliver high quality.

A little birdie just whispered in my ear that Reuel Williams dribbled Caroleo all over the canvas through 3 rounds (2 knockdowns) before the doctor stopped the bout. Williams 4-1 (2 KO's) - Caroleo 3-1 (2KO's). I thought I heard someone state emphatically earlier that Nicky boy's 0 was gonna go!
