Peterson Opponents Announced for November 18!

The opponents have been named for the November 18 card at Fitzgerald's Casino & Hotel in Tunica, MS for DC's undefeated Peterson Brothers.

NABO Lightweight champion Anthony Peterson (20-0, 15 KO's) will take on former WBO Bantamweight champion Alfred "Cobra" Kotey of Ghana in an eight-round non-title bout. Peterson is coming off a six-round unanimous decision over Armando Cordoba on September 1 in East Peoria, IL. Peterson is ranked fourth by the WBO and ninth by the WBA. He was also named the "Prospect of the Year" by ESPN.

Kotey (24-13-1, 14 KO's) is a 14-year veteran who won his WBO title in 1994 with a unanimous decision over Rafael Del Valle. Kotey has lost six straight bouts and seven of his last eight.

Lamont Peterson (18-0, eight KO's) currently holds the WBC US Light Welterweight title and he will square off in another eight-round non-title bout against Marteze Logan from Covington, TN.

L. Peterson is coming off a convincing sixth-round TKO victory over Omar Bernal on the same Sept. 1 card as his brother. Logan (23-25-2, six KO's) is a tough veteran who recently broke a six-bout losing streak with a fifth-round KO of Michael Moss on October 3 in Memphis, TN. Peterson is ranked ninth by the WBA at 140 pounds.

Logan, who fought and lost a bout at Michael's Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie, MD on March 11, 2004 (that was the first live telecast of Ballroom Boxing that included the bout between Hasim Rahman and Al Cole), is capable of the big upset -- his biggest win was an eight-round unanimous decision against previously undefeated Americo Santos in November of 2005. Logan has fought great competition throughout his career including Mike Arnaoutis, Paul Williams, Emmanuel Augustus, Steve Forbes, Vivian Harris and Cezar Bazan.

Finally these guys are getting something of a test. I actually like Logan, gotta give a 22 year old with close to 50 pro fights his props. I'm not sold on these Peterson brothers though, I think they are mostly ESPN hype. Rock Allen is the real prize in this division.

Hey Pkilly Kieth, you are partly right and partly wrong. First of all> Rock Allen is the cream of the crop right now, but its not the Peterson brothers fault. Those two boy can fight. You watch what happens when an experianced trainer starts working with them. Let Buddy McGirt, Fredie Roach, or Papa Trinidad get a hold of these boys and you will see the difference. You must remember that the trainer they have now Berry Hunter is kind of new to the pro game and is doing the best he can right now. Things will get better in time. Yes I know that Rock Allen spanked them both before, but things might change soon, you watch and see. I do agree with you about Rock, I was in training camp with him and his brother in 2004 and both of them do have what it takes. Only the future will tell...
You take care Kieth, hope to hear you on here again soon...

Stop haiting Rock is ok he and the brother's are doing there thing. Right now both are fighting regular. Let's hope down the line we could see a big money fight down the line. Them agaist each other.Barry is new to the pros but who wasn't we they first started. Come on say something that mean something. For example Ham Johnson never trained a pro before his son Mark TooSharp he turned out a world champion

No one is hatin fool! I was just telling it like it is. I have been in the fight game since the late 50,s I know what happens. Yes Barry is new and yes he may turn out to be an good trainer, but he will face some bumpy roads along the way. He will be replaced as head trainer one day in the near future when the brothers are fighting rated boxers.
