That eye is horrible. Boxing is disgusting when there are no unified rules. He can fight in Trinidad proves that.

He should not even be able to spar with an eye that horrible.

Good GOD...*Cringe* You know, the overall circus-atmosphere of this thing sickens me, but to see Sanders eye, and know this guy just fought, almost literally made me sick-to-my-stomach Gary. I noticed his eye a few years back on a Fox Sports show, and said to myself - "Im no doctor...But there is clearly something wrong with that eye." Well, it has gotten WORSE. As in MUCH worse. As for this exhibition thing...Unless something bizarre happens (Hey, you never know in Boxing and with Tyson) it will probably be just that; a harmless and innocuos exhibition. Tyson - for all of his faults as a human being - has a compassionate side, and (I may get vilified for saying this) I think he has a 'good heart'. While some will cry foul and bloody murder over his selection of a nearly half-blind opponent/sparring partner, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he purposely selected Sanders, with the intent of providing him with a bit of money to address the eye issue. (Is there even a real eye in there Gary? No other way to put it - it looks frightening and hideous.) I think Tyson will only hit him with pitty-pat punches on that eye and side of his face. At least I'm hoping to hell he will, and I'm hoping to hell I'm right. (How in the world did Sanders get okayed to fight recently? Trinidad/Tobago, I know...)

* Sidenote - I heard this was PPV??? I have conditioned myself to not be shocked at anything boxing or Tyson-related, but that does indeed leave me absolutely baffled and speechless. Who would PAY for this??? Anyways, I sincerely wish the best for these two, and also hope I don't read about anything in the paper the next day, other than a mere acknowledgement of it's occurence.

Even that itself is pushing it...

Corey's eye LOOKS bad, but it doesn't hurt him. He has learned to fight being blind in one eye. Victor Davis did the same thing. The way an injury looks and the way it effects a fighter are two different things. That said, the eye does LOOK pretty bad.

You need 2 eyes to be successful though. Its his left eye which is worse because Cory fights right handed, doesnt he. Maybe he should learn to fight from southpaw stance to have a wider source of vision. Keep him in your prayers, this is a dangerous sport.

This look bad. That's another black eye for boxing. That's why John McCain wanted to meke federal comission for boxing. Because you have people that don't care about the fighters. They use them as mules. Corey should care enough about himself. That's what happen to fighters. Corey probaly couldn't even get a good paying job

Corey your health is worth more to you then money. Look some great fighters who mad a lot of money can't even say complete sentence. Look meldric Taylor and there are some fighters around the Beltway as weel I won't say know names and they didn't make half of the money these fighters made Gary what do you say about this

I agree with the last 2. But we can't tell Corey what to do. We just have to PRAY for him and TYSON. A man who made over 100 million and that's what he do. Box blind people and now say he want fight that female boxer. Come on people what is really happening to boxing COREY I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT PEOPLE AROUND THE BELTWAY CARE ABOUT YOU

these boxers need to stop doing this to themselves. look at teddy reid, my aunt actually thought he was suffering from retardation when she met him. i had to explain to her that he was a vet boxer. as he was tal;king to her he was slurring with slobber coming out his mouth. i hope he is doing alright. last i heard he was working at Calvin Grove scholl in the evenings cleaning up. that is not where is was suppose to wind up at. we here at the rec wish him well...

Mr Gary is that true what Kentland said? Teddy is that bad?

Gary Digital Williams said...

When I've talked to Teddy, he has not seemed that bad. I have not talked to him since March, however.

However, this is not the first time I have heard someone say that about him, especially after his last couple of bouts.

I have also heard some things along those lines as well, but not quite that bad. I have also heard (Seriously...I'm NOT trying to make light of this) that Reid is is borderline mentally retarded. I honestly don't know what the facts are, but this much is pretty clear to me after his last few fights; he needs to retire.

Chris let us know the real deal because I think you discussed this before in a very long post about Teddy.

Yes I did, and as a matter of fact I spoke to him this week and he sounded completely coherent. Teddy has been in some hard fights, but most often it was the guys he fought that took too many hard shots to the head. He lost when he was just plain outboxed or outfoxed. And whatever his job is today is irrelevant and no one deserves to be put down for whatever job they have. The fact is that if Teddy or other fighters maintain jobs during the development of their careers, they are so much better off for it. First, they have a regular source of income, often times with health benefits for them and their family. Second with that sort of safety net, they are not forced to take the wrong fight because of financial pressure. And three they know that they will always have something else to fall back on so that if their fight careers take a wrong turn, they do not become so frustrated or disappointed that they make poor choices in their daily lives.

Christ almighty, I don't know you from Christopher Walken Mr.Middendorf, but if anyone can find fault in that piece of advice/post they are either blatantly biased or sadly mistaken. That was extremely well-put.

Nuff said.

Peace...
