There have been reports on some boxing websites that USBA Cruiserweight champion Emmanuel Nwodo of Baltimore is scheduled to take on undefeated NABO Cruiserweight titleholder Johnathan Banks on October 28 at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, MI.
I just got off the phone with Nwodo's promoter, Han Kim and he tells me that the bout is OFF! Kim was contacted for this bout just this week and felt the short notice was too short for his boxer to prepare for the bout. So the bout is off.
More on this as it becomes available.

Digital-Just out of curiosity, how much time is usually considered enough? I guess one month is too short?
A lot depends on what the boxer's situation is. In this case, Nwodo would have to lose almost 20 pounds in two weeks to get ready for the 28th.
Right now, he is that much above the cruiserweight limit of 200 pounds. Losing that much weight in such a short period of time drains a fighter and they would have nothing left by the time the bout takes place.
Oh wow, yeah, losing nearly 20 lb in two weeks would be tough (and quite unhealthy).
Crap. If I had known there'd be those $50 seats available at a discount, I wouldn't've gotten the $25 ticket earlier. Oh well, even from the nosebleeds you can see fine, and I can just move down to an unused seat (if there is one).
Well! That worked out well, didn't it?
Folks, I hear the tickets are really moving as we get closer to Oct. 7. Better get those tickets soon!
when you are a fighter looking to fight you should be in shap not have to lose 20lbs
Anonymous-I'm pretty sure he's in shape, it's just to meet the weight requirements for a separate weightclass.
Yeah...That is too much weight to pull in too short of time. No doubt there.
Any more word on future possible opponents for Wilson? I would like to see him stay active, and would love to see this guy become a legit top-contender at cruiserweight. There are many opponents out there for him that would make for excellent 'fan-friendly' matchups.
* Sidenote - Here is a crazy-but-not-so-crazy idea: Let's do a webcast, and put Willams (blow-by-blow announcer) and Jones (color commentator) behind the mics? (The "hamster and the wheel" is always spinning up here folks. Sometimes spinning a bit out of control, but always spinning...;-)
