Joppy, Buchanan Slated for Returns!

Former three-time WBA Middleweight champion William Joppy is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, July 8 on the undercard of the "Gateway to Glory" card in St. Louis, Missouri.

Joppy, who is somehow ranked number 8 by the WBC at 168 pounds, will battle as a super middleweight for only the second time in his career. He has not fought since January 7 when he stopped Erik Howard in the fifth round in Madison Square Garden.

As some of you have mentioned, undefeated super middleweight prospect Henry "Sugar Poo" Buchanan is vying to be a part of a proposed super middleweight tournament promoted by Gary Shaw Promotions and Showtime.

A couple of clarifications:

1.According to published reports, the field for the tournament has NOT been set. This means Buchanan is not yet officially part of the program.

2. This also means that there is no official bout yet between Buchanan and Anthony Hanshaw.

I'll keep you posted when this tournament is made official. The tourney is scheduled to begin on July 28.

Gary- Henry Buchanan is part of the Super Middleweight Tournament for ShoBox. The two dates of the first round are July 28th and August 4th from the PFTC Sports Arena in Las Vegas. Buchanan will be on one of those dates against an opponent that is being decided right now. Afull press release about the tournament will come out tomorrow from Showtime. They are very excited about the tournament and Buchanan is one of several undefeated fighters on the card. The card includes Anthony Hanshaw, but he and Buchanan will definitely not be fighting in the first round. That confusion arose from Boxrec which took the list of the fighters that I have put together off of our website and just assumed that the first guy was fighting the second guy and posted them as fights. What they failed to realize was that it was only a list.
You will probably get the press release from Showtime (let me know if you do not) and I hope that you will publish the pertinent facts.

Chris, I am not sure of what you are doing when it comes to local boxers, but I do know that this many people are not lying. You need to get your act together before you have big problems that you will be unable to handle. I have never once heard anything negative about Josh Hall. Perhaps you should learn something from him. He is not stealing from people the way that you are. I will try and talk with Scott about your crooked ways, I just hope that he will be sober when I do see him. You are lucky that he does have a drinking problem, he most likely forgets all of your dishonest ways. Then you wonder why everyone would rather be on a Jake The Snake Smith show...
