According to ESPN.com's Dan Rafael, WBC Heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman may make his next title defense in Johannesburg, South Africa, the site of his biggest career victory.
Rafael cites a Rahman camp insider that says Rodney Berman, a South African promoter who was instrumental in bringing the first Rahman-Lennox Lewis bout to South Africa is making a push to bring the rematch between Rahman and Oleg Maskaev to Johannesburg in August or September.
In April 2001, Rahman set the boxing world on its ear when he knocked out Lewis in Carnival City, a resort on the outskirts of Johannesburg.
Rahman's promoter, Bob Arum, recently said that Rahman's home town of Baltimore was one of the possible sites for the bout. Other possible sites include Atlantic City, New York and Dubai.
