Sigmon Wins Unanimous Decision In Lynchburg!
Bedford, VA cruiserweight Scott "Cujo" Sigmon won a 10-round unanimous decision over Ronnie "The Unbreakable" Glass of Danville, VA Saturday at the Boonesboro Ruritan Club in Lynchburg, VA.
Sigmon won by scores of 97-93 across the board to raise his record to 34-13-1, 17 KO's. Glass loses for the first time and is now 9-1-1, six KO's.

Kisner Suffers No Decision; Bates Scores 4th-Round TKO in Atlantic City; Sykes Wins Upset In Charlotte!
Turned out to be a tough night for Baltimore, MD's "Slick" Nick Kisner at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. Kisner's heavyweight bout against "Ottomatic" Otto Wallin of Sundsvall, Sweden ended at the end of the first round after an unintentional headbutt.
Late in the round, the two men violently clashed heads and the result was a nasty cut near Kisner's right eye. The blood was going into the eye and Kisner said he could not see. The ringside doctors called a halt to the contest after the round was over. Kisner's record remains at 21-4-1, six KO's while Wallin remains undefeated at 20-0, 13 KO's.
On the undercard, DC super bantamweight Marcus "Dreamcrusher" Bates scored an upset victory with a fourth-round TKO over Jesse Angel Hernandez of Fort Worth, TX. No word on when the bout was stopped. Bates bounces back very nicely from his lone loss to Raeese Aleem in April of 2018 and is now 9-1-1, eight KO's. Hernandez, who was ranked 14th in the world by the WBA, falls to 12-3, seven KO's.

Kisner Weighs 221 For 10-Rounder In Atlantic City!

Nick Kisner weighed in at 221 pounds for his 10-round contest against undefeated Otto Wallin on Saturday at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. Wallin tipped the scales at 227 pounds.
The Kisner-Wallin bout will open the Showtime Boxing telecast beginning at 9:10 PM ET.

Beltway Boxers Added To May 11th Card In Fairfax, VA!
A number of Beltway Boxers have been added to the TGB Promotions card that will take place on Saturday, May 11th at the Eagle Bank Arena in Fairfax, VA. This is the card that features 154-pound world champion "Swift" Jarrett Hurd of Accokeek, MD defending his titles against number one contender Julian "J-Rock" Williams of Philadelphia, PA.
Undefeated Bethesda, MD super flyweight Alexandru "Spartan" Marin will be in his first 12-round contest when he takes on former world champion Luis "Nica" Concepcion of Panama City, Panama. This bout is slated to be an IBO Elimination contest and may have bearing on the IBF as well. Marin (17-0, 11 KO's) is the defending IBO Intercontinental Super Flyweight champion and is ranked third in the world by the IBF. In his last outing, Marin won the IBO Intercontinental title with a 10-round split decision over Bruno Escalante on September 8th in Inglewood, CA.
Concepcion (37-7, 26 KO's) is a former WBA Super Flyweight titleholder who is looking to bounce back from a 10-round unanimous decision loss to Andrew Moloney on September 8th in Bendigo, Australia. Concepcion won the WBA title in August of 2016, defeating Kohei Kono by 12-round unanimous decision in Japan.
Glenarden, MD lightweight Drayvontay Speed-Rawls will be in his first eight-rounder when he battles with veteran Jonathan "Popeye" Perez of Barranquilla, Colombia. Speed-Rawls (11-1-1, eight KO's) comes off a third-round TKO over Dante Cox on March 8th in Hanover, MD. Perez (38-23, 30 KO's) broke a five-bout losing streak with a third-round stoppage of Euclides Carcamo on January 18th in Monteria, Colombia.
In an all-Maryland super welterweight contest, Mark "Sayless" Duncan of Clarksburg will take on Baltimore's Kevin "The Scarecrow" Womack, Jr. The bout is scheduled for six rounds. Duncan (3-1, three KO's) looks to bounce back from suffering his first pro loss, a six-round split decision to Arturo Izquierdo on March 24th in Oxon Hill, MD. Womack, Jr. (8-17-4, six KO's) will be trying to break a three-bout losing streak. In his last outing, Womack, Jr. lost by fourth-round TKO to Zarifbek Nishanbaev on August 18th in Hanover, MD. Womack, Jr. will be facing a fellow Beltway Boxer for the third straight time -- he also lost a tough four-round majority decision to Kareem Martin in June of 2018 in DC.

Undefeated Upper Marlboro, MD super featherweight Lamont Roach, Jr. will return to action on Saturday, May 4th when he battles Jonathan "Polvo" Oquendo of Vega Alta, Puerto Rico at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. The bout will be a feature contest on the Canelo Alvarez-Danny Jacobs card and will be shown on DAZN.

Isley Grabs Gold, Davis Secures Silver On Final Day Of Pan American Games Qualifier!
On the final day of competition at the Pan American Games Qualifier in Managua, Nicaragua, Alexandria, VA boxers Troy Isley and Keyshawn Davis put on solid performances and earned medals.
Isley put on a magnificent show in the championship, winning a gold medal in the middleweight division. Isley defeated Arlen Lopez of Cuba by a 3-2 decision. Lopez previously won a gold at the 2015 PanAm Games and a gold at the 2016 Olympics.
Davis lost a tough 3-2 decision to 2017 World Champion Andy Cruz of Cuba in the light welterweight division championship to gain a silver medal.
Team USA won nine medals (four gold, two silver and three bronze) during the qualifier. The 2019 Pan American Games will be July 26th through August 11th in Lima, Peru.

The KBW Promotions card that will take place on Saturday, April 20th at Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD has a number of changes and additions.
Undefeated DC middleweight Dusty Hernandez Harrison has a new opponent for the card as he will now take on Fred Jenkins, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA in an eight-round contest. Harrison (31-0-1, 17 KO's) returned to action after two-plus years of inactivity and scored a first-round knockout over Bruce Rumbolz on March 30th in New Albany, IN. Jenkins (10-5, three KO's) returns to action for the first time since September of 2017 when he lost a six-round unanimous decision to Isaiah Wise in Philadelphia.
Hagerstown, MD super middleweight "The Sexy Albanian" Genc Pllana has a new opponent for his four-round encounter. Pllana (3-0, one KO) will battle with Jonathan Morgan of Northern Shores, MI. Pllana (3-0, one KO) last fought on January 26th and won a six-round unanimous decision over Ashton Sykes in Waldorf, MD. Morgan (0-1) lost his pro debut by third-round stoppage to Cedric Whyckoff on October 26th in Detroit, MI.

VA/NC Golden Gloves Head To Rosecroft April 12th And 13th!
For the first time, the 2019 Virginia/North Carolina Golden Gloves will not be held in either Virginia or North Carolina. This year's championships will be held at Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD on Friday and Saturday, April 12th and 13th. The semifinals will be on the 12th and championship night will be on the 13th. Both cards begin at 7:30 PM ET.
The winners from the Virginia and North Carolina Novice and Open Bouts will battle the champions from DC/Maryland/Delaware at the Regional Golden Gloves which will also be held at Rosecroft on Saturday, April 27th.

We have just started the "Awesome April Of Beltway Boxing" but we now have to talk about another one of the four local cards that will take place during the "Magnificent May Along The Beltway." Davis, Isley Punch Tickets To Pan American Games With Quarterfinal Victories!
Congratulations to Alexandria, VA amateur boxers Keyshawn Davis and Troy Isley who will be heading to the 2019 Pan American Games this summer in Lima, Peru. The two boxers qualified for the PanAm games by winning quarterfinal bouts Tuesday at the qualifier event in Managua, Nicaragua.
Lightweight Davis won a 5-0 decision over Luis Arcon Diaz of Venezuela while Isley, a middleweight, defeated hometown boxer Lestor Espino by a 3-2 score. The semifinals will take place later today.

Reed Needs New Opponent For California Bout; Davis, Isley Compete In Pan American Qualifier Quarterfinals!
We noted that Waldorf, MD welterweight Mike "Yes, Indeed" Reed was going to be involved in a contest on Thursday, April 25th from Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, CA. Reed will need a new opponent as his scheduled foe was not approved by the California State Athletic Commission.

Daly, Avelar, Warren Lead Winning Parade At Washington Golden Gloves Championships!
The Washington Golden Gloves Championships included a number of exciting title bouts and some historical experiences Saturday in front of a packed house at Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD.
In the Open Division, 123-pounder Shakell Daly of Diamonds N The Ruff won the title in that division defeating defending champion Dwayne Holmes, Jr. of Sugar Ray Leonard Gym. Daly was named the Outstanding Boxer of the Open Division, an accomplishment made even more special because Daly's father Kelvin, won the same Outstanding Boxer trophy at the Washington Golden Gloves 32 years ago.
Daly's teammate, Demitrius Lewis, captured the title at 114 pounds with a win over Kameron Rick-Holmes of Dream Team. Diamonds N The Ruff won three titles in the Open Division including a walkover win for Ladasia Lewis in the Female 141-Pound class. Only Baltimore Boxing's Deshawn Chase prevented a clean sweep as he defeated Deont'e Washington in the 152-Pound championship. Diamonds N The Ruff captured the Open Division trophy for the tournament.
The night was also a historic one for Tommy Avelar of Sugar Ray Leonard as he won his fourth straight title at 132 Pounds defeating Isaiah Harris of Dog Pound. Avelar has competed in the last five 132-pound championship bouts.
In the 141-Pound championship, Malik Warren of Upton Boxing captured the title by defeating Jalen Jones of Limelite. However, Warren will not head to the Regional Golden Gloves Championships. Instead, Warren will make his professional debut on Friday, April 26th at The Met in Philadelphia, PA joining his gym mate Malik Hawkins.
Another Upton boxer, Jeff Bozier, Jr., took the title at 165 Pounds by defeating Yohannes Rezene of Sugar Ray Leonard. Two other boxers won their titles by walkover -- Joel Tchatchunij of Champions at 178 Pounds and Ezri Turner from Headbangers at 201 Pounds.
Leading the way in the Novice Division was Saquan Epps of NOMIS, who captured the title at 132 pounds, defeating Elonte Kemp of Limelite. Epps's teammate, Damian Pringle, took the title at 201 Pounds with a win over Tyrone Russ of Woodland. Epps would be chosen as the Outstanding Boxer in the Novice Division and NOMIS would earn the Novice Team Trophy.
Devante Alexander of Knowledge Boxing would earn the only stoppage of the evening with an RSC win over Tre'von Wells of Dream Team at 141 Pounds.
In other Novice title bouts, Emanuel Burroughs (Old School) defeated Ra'shawn Jones (Sugar Ray Leonard) at 114 Pounds. At 123 Pounds, Demarco Kennedy (Champions) took the title over Anthony Kareem (Cherry Lane). Stefon Jordan (Champions) won the 152-Pound title with a win over Eric Middleton (NOMIS). At 165 Pounds, Stephan Burden (American Muay Thai) took the crown with a win over Michael Hines (#11 Overcomers).
Walter Sanders (Sweet Science) won the 178 Pound championship with a win over Sunday Akin (Laurel) and Ricardo Volcin (Old School) took the title at 201+ Pounds with a victory over Steven Sparks (Mad House).
The Regional Golden Gloves will take place on Saturday, April 27th at Rosecroft. Prior to that, Rosecroft will play host to the Virginia/North Carolina Golden Gloves on Friday and Saturday, April 12th and 13th.
In the Open Division, 123-pounder Shakell Daly of Diamonds N The Ruff won the title in that division defeating defending champion Dwayne Holmes, Jr. of Sugar Ray Leonard Gym. Daly was named the Outstanding Boxer of the Open Division, an accomplishment made even more special because Daly's father Kelvin, won the same Outstanding Boxer trophy at the Washington Golden Gloves 32 years ago.
Daly's teammate, Demitrius Lewis, captured the title at 114 pounds with a win over Kameron Rick-Holmes of Dream Team. Diamonds N The Ruff won three titles in the Open Division including a walkover win for Ladasia Lewis in the Female 141-Pound class. Only Baltimore Boxing's Deshawn Chase prevented a clean sweep as he defeated Deont'e Washington in the 152-Pound championship. Diamonds N The Ruff captured the Open Division trophy for the tournament.
The night was also a historic one for Tommy Avelar of Sugar Ray Leonard as he won his fourth straight title at 132 Pounds defeating Isaiah Harris of Dog Pound. Avelar has competed in the last five 132-pound championship bouts.
In the 141-Pound championship, Malik Warren of Upton Boxing captured the title by defeating Jalen Jones of Limelite. However, Warren will not head to the Regional Golden Gloves Championships. Instead, Warren will make his professional debut on Friday, April 26th at The Met in Philadelphia, PA joining his gym mate Malik Hawkins.
Another Upton boxer, Jeff Bozier, Jr., took the title at 165 Pounds by defeating Yohannes Rezene of Sugar Ray Leonard. Two other boxers won their titles by walkover -- Joel Tchatchunij of Champions at 178 Pounds and Ezri Turner from Headbangers at 201 Pounds.
Leading the way in the Novice Division was Saquan Epps of NOMIS, who captured the title at 132 pounds, defeating Elonte Kemp of Limelite. Epps's teammate, Damian Pringle, took the title at 201 Pounds with a win over Tyrone Russ of Woodland. Epps would be chosen as the Outstanding Boxer in the Novice Division and NOMIS would earn the Novice Team Trophy.
Devante Alexander of Knowledge Boxing would earn the only stoppage of the evening with an RSC win over Tre'von Wells of Dream Team at 141 Pounds.
In other Novice title bouts, Emanuel Burroughs (Old School) defeated Ra'shawn Jones (Sugar Ray Leonard) at 114 Pounds. Hawkins To Battle Lyimo In Eight-Round Main Event In Philadelphia!
Undefeated Baltimore, MD welterweight Malik "Iceman" Hawkins returns to The Met in Philadelphia, PA for an eight-round main event bout against veteran Fabian Lyimo of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania on Friday, April 26th.
Hawkins (14-0, nine KO's) won an eight-round unanimous decision over Gledwin Ortiz at The Met on February 23rd. This will be Hawkins's third straight trip to the City of Brotherly Love. Hawkins won a 10-round unanimous decision over Raymond Serrano for the vacant NABA-USA Welterweight title at the Fillmore in February of 2018.
Lyimo (23-9-2, 15 KO's) has only fought twice in the United States and those came in his last two bouts. On March 30th, Lyimo dropped an eight-round unanimous decision to Ismael Garcia in Hockessin, DE. That was Lyimo's first bout in almost two years. Lyimo made his US debut at the ABC Sports Complex in Springfield, VA in October of 2017 where he was knocked out in the first round by Zsolt Daranyi, Jr.

Dyer Drops Unanimous Decision In Las Vegas!
Baltimore, MD super featherweight Jahmal Dyer has lost an eight-round unanimous decision to undefeated Andres "Savage" Cortes of Las Vegas, NV tonight at Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall in Las Vegas. The bout was televised nationally by Showtime.
Dyer started the contest well as he was able to land and trade shots with Cortes, a Mayweather Promotions prospect. However, late in the third round, Dyer was rocked by a solid right hand that wobbled him. Dyer was able to survive the round.
Dyer would make a nice comeback midway through the fourth when he landed a counter right hand that sent Cortes to the canvas. Cortes was able to regroup in the second half of the contest by outpunching Dyer and would go on to the victory. Cortes would win by scores of 78-73, 79-73 and 78-74. Dyer is now 9-2, five KO's while Cortes's record rises to 11-0. six KO's.

Harvey Wins First International Championship In Bulgaria!
Congratulations to Oxon Hill, MD flyweight Jahmal Harvey who won a gold medal at the Emil Jechev Tournament in Botevgard, Bulgaria.
Competing in his first international tournament, Harvey defeated a hometown boxer, Yasan Ruda by a 4-1 score earlier today.

A couple of overseas amateur updates involving Beltway amateur boxers. Oxon Hill, MD flyweight Jahmal Harvey has advanced to today's final of the Emil Jechev International Youth and Junior Boxing Tournament in Botevgard, Bulgaria.
Harvey defeated Marian Radu of Romania by a 5-0 decision to move into the championship bout where he will face Bulgaria's Yasen Radev. Harvey has won all three of his previous contests by unanimous decision.

This will be Dyer’s third bout in three months. Cortes (10-0, six KO’s) last fought on January 17th and stopped Eder Amaro Fajardo in the third round at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas.
The telecast will get underway at 10 PM ET.
