Alexandria, VA 138-pounder Keyshawn Davis has advanced to the finals of the 2020 US Olympic Team Trials at the Lake Charles Civic Center in Lake Charles, LA.
On Friday, Davis defeated Charlie Sheehy of Brisbane, CA by unanimous decision. Davis was the top seed in his bracket. Davis's brother, Kelvin, lost his bout at 152 pounds by split decision to Delante Johnson of Cleveland Heights, OH. Davis will face Freudis Rojas of Las Vegas in the challenger's bracket.
Fellow Alexandria boxers Troy Isley and Amelia Moore will also have to advance to the finals through the challenger's bracket. Isley lost his first bout of the double-elimination tournament, dropping a 4-1 decision to Javier Martinez of Milwaukee, WI. Isley will take on Joseph Hicks of Grand Rapids, MI in today's Challenger's finals. Moore, who has been competing in the challenger's bracket since losing her first-round bout, stayed alive by defeating Jennifer Lopez of Jersey City, NJ by unanimous decision. Moore will battle Kimberly Carlson of Chicago, IL who defeated Moore in the first round.
Washington, DC's Nasheed Smith has been eliminated from the tournament. Smith lost a tough 3-2 decision to Orville Crooks of Brooklyn, NY in the 178-pound challenger's bracket.
