Turned out to be a tough night for Baltimore, MD's "Slick" Nick Kisner at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. Kisner's heavyweight bout against "Ottomatic" Otto Wallin of Sundsvall, Sweden ended at the end of the first round after an unintentional headbutt.
Late in the round, the two men violently clashed heads and the result was a nasty cut near Kisner's right eye. The blood was going into the eye and Kisner said he could not see. The ringside doctors called a halt to the contest after the round was over. Kisner's record remains at 21-4-1, six KO's while Wallin remains undefeated at 20-0, 13 KO's.
On the undercard, DC super bantamweight Marcus "Dreamcrusher" Bates scored an upset victory with a fourth-round TKO over Jesse Angel Hernandez of Fort Worth, TX. No word on when the bout was stopped. Bates bounces back very nicely from his lone loss to Raeese Aleem in April of 2018 and is now 9-1-1, eight KO's. Hernandez, who was ranked 14th in the world by the WBA, falls to 12-3, seven KO's.
Meanwhile at the West End Plaza in Salisbury, NC, super middleweight Ashton "The Goon" Sykes of Hanover, MD also registered an upset as he won a six-round unanimous decision over Roy King of Johnson City, TN. Sykes dropped King in the fourth round and went on to the victory. Sykes evens his record at 3-3 while King drops to 11-3-1, six KO's.
