Baltimore, MD super featherweight Jahmal Dyer has lost an eight-round unanimous decision to undefeated Andres "Savage" Cortes of Las Vegas, NV tonight at Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall in Las Vegas. The bout was televised nationally by Showtime.
Dyer started the contest well as he was able to land and trade shots with Cortes, a Mayweather Promotions prospect. However, late in the third round, Dyer was rocked by a solid right hand that wobbled him. Dyer was able to survive the round.
Dyer would make a nice comeback midway through the fourth when he landed a counter right hand that sent Cortes to the canvas. Cortes was able to regroup in the second half of the contest by outpunching Dyer and would go on to the victory. Cortes would win by scores of 78-73, 79-73 and 78-74. Dyer is now 9-2, five KO's while Cortes's record rises to 11-0. six KO's.
