Hurd To Defend Unified 154-Pound Title Against Williams May 11th In Fairfax, VA!

Undefeated and unified 154-Pound champion "Swift" Jarrett Hurd of Accokeek, MD will defend his WBA/IBF/IBO championships against contender Julian "J-Rock" Williams of Philadelphia, PA on Saturday, May 11th at the Eagle Bank Arena at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.  The bout will be televised live on Fox and Fox Deportes.

For Hurd (23-0, 16 KO's), this will be the third defense of his IBF title and the second of the WBA and IBO crowns.  In his last outing, Hurd successfully defended his titles with a fourth-round knockout over Jason Welborn on December 1st in Los Angeles, CA.  This will also be the first time Hurd has fought in the Beltway since November of 2014 when he scored a first-round knockout over Terry Cade at Constitution Hall in Washington, DC.

Williams (26-1-1, 16 KO's) is the number one contender in the IBF rankings and makes his second attempt at a world title.  The lone loss for Williams came in December of 2016 when he was knocked out in the fifth round by Jermall Charlo for the IBF Super Welterweight title in Los Angeles.  Williams has won four straight bouts since that loss including a second-round knockout over Francisco Javier Castro on the same December 1st card at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

There will be another Beltway Boxer on this card as Richmond, VA middleweight "The Chosen One" Immanuwel Aleem will be in a 10-round encounter against veteran and former world title challenger Matt Korobov of St. Petersburg, FL by way of Russia.

Aleem (18-1-1, 11 KO's) bounced back from his third-round knockout loss to Hugo Centeno in August of  2017 by stopping Juan De Angel in the sixth round on May 19th at MGM National Harbor Casino in Oxon Hill, MD.  Korobov (28-2, 14 KO's) looks to regain his winning ways after dropping a 12-round unanimous decision to Jermall Charlo for the interim WBC Middleweight title on December 22nd in Brooklyn, NY.  Korobov was a late substitution in that bout and gave a good accounting of himself.  Korobov's two losses have come in world title bouts.  Korobov's first loss came in a sixth-round TKO loss to Andy Lee for the WBO Middleweight crown in December of 2014 in Las Vegas.

This will be the first boxing card held at Eagle Bank Arena since October 17th, 2015 when Lamont Peterson defeated Felix Diaz by 12-round majority decision.  That was also the card where Prichard Colon was badly injured in his bout against Terrell Williams.  Tickets for the May 11th card go on sale on Thursday, March 28th and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.com.
